Course Specification 1-Basic Information Title: Advanced biological pharmacy Code: DP-IP 061 Level: Diploma of Pharmaceutical Technology Department: Pharmaceutics Unit: 3 Lecture: Two hours per week Tutorial: Practical: 1 hours Total: 3 hr/week 2- Aims of Course This course aims to: 1- Help students to identify the factors that help on the bioavailability of the drug in the body and the factors which help the absorption of drug into the blood. 2- Give the student knowledge on the application of the pharmacokinetic of the drug within the body and calculate the rate of absorption and the rate of elimination of the drug, as well as the half-life of the drug. 3- Intended Learning Outcomes of Course (ILOs): a- Knowledge and Understanding: By the end of the diploma, the students will be able to: al- Be aware of the basic pharmacokinetic parameters of the drug. a2- List factors that affects the pharmacokinetic parameters of the drug such as rate of absorption, volume of distribution as well as rate of elimination. a3- Be aware of other factors that affect the bioavailability of drug in the body such as condition of the patient and age. b- Intellectual Skills: By the end of the diploma, the students will be able to: b1- Identify the factors that affect the absorption of the drug from the body. b2- Analyze the mechanism of absorption of the drug from the gastrointestinal tract. b3- Evaluate biological factors that affect the bioavailability of the drug. 2- Aims of Course

This course aims to:

1- Help students to identify the factors that help on the bioavailability of the drug in

the body and the factors which help the absorption of drug into the blood.
