1 Summary
1.1 General
Our focus on providing high-quality training has been recognized by thousands of customers.
We offer classes as well in Vantaa (FI) and in NOVOTEK competency centrer in Breda (NL).
We also offer classes to be arranged on-site in all the NOVOTEK-countries as per separate
agreement.
It is our belief that NOVOTEK will help you maximize your investment in our products,
enabling you to maximize your productivity.
1.2 Classroom Setup
Each NOVOTEK course contains a high level of hands-on training. For this reason, familiarity
with Personal Computers is a must. Note that many courses are based on team learning. This
means that most courses have two students working on one machine. This model helps
facilitate cooperative learning and increased class discussion.
1.3 Class Schedules
Classes in generally start at 9 a.m. each day and end at approximately 5 p.m. When making
travel plans, please allow enough time so the entire duration of the course can be attended.

2 GFS-154/iFIX Fundamentals
2.1 Course Description
The Proficy iFIX Fundamentals course is designed to provide a good working knowledge of
iFIX. All major features are covered, from project configuration to data acquisition and
visualization. Valuable hands-on lab exercises are provided to guide students through the
building and modification of an HMI/SCADA application from top to bottom.
2.2 Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for process, automation or instrumentation engineers and system
integrators who will be developing, configuring and using applications on an iFIX system.
2.3 Are There Any Prerequisites?
Participants should have a working knowledge of Windows operating systems. Control system
exposure and experience is recommended.
2.4 What Tasks Will Be Taught in This Class?

3.1 Course Description
The Proficy iFIX Advanced Development course concentrates on the skills and knowledge
required to extend the core functionality of iFIX. In addition, there are a range of topics that
discuss the integration of iFIX applications with external systems such as historians, relational
databases, office and reporting applications as well as other automation applications.
3.2 Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for developers responsible for building and implementing full-featured
iFIX HMI/SCADA systems. These topics focus on integration and programming and will be
beyond the needs of most casual users.
3.3 Are There Any Prerequisites?
Completion of Proficy iFIX Fundamentals course is a prerequisite for taking this course. Prior
exposure to programming (in any language) is of benefit as is prior exposure to relational
databases and SQL.

Proficy and thirdparty data sources.

Students will also be taught Report Server Administration and Web Client functionality, how
to extract data from the Plant Applications database using the Excel Add-In and display results

precise specifications of a product run and manage the quality of all raw materials, in process
products and finished goods. Discussion includes the concepts of Specification Management
and how the relationship of products with specifications can streamline the process of
maintaining product information. Configuration is shown for site-specific and equipment-
specific product specifications, Alarm conditions, and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
analysis tools. Web-enabled analytical tools are used to expose product relationships for
analysis and troubleshooting, and to measure variation in the plant manufacturing process.

13.1 Course Description
Proficy Plant Applications Production Management Fundamentals will teach you how to
configure Plant Applications software for Product tracking, Product Genealogy and
Schedule/Order Management. It provides entrylevel access to Production Management
capabilities and applications. This includes learning to configure the Plant Model for
production tracking, performing Event Model design to identify and quantify materials to be
created and tracked, as well as completing Genealogy Model design. Valuable hands-on lab
exercises are provided to guide students through configuration by modeling a fictitious
manufacturing process.
13.2 Who Should Attend?
The course is intended for those that are responsible for configuration and support of the
software within their organization as well as Integrators responsible for the implementation of

Execution system.

16.1 Course Description
Authoring Proficy SOA Service Providers classroom training will teach the student how to
extend the functionality of the Proficy SOA platform. Proficy SOA Development is a two-day
course that focuses on the development of custom service providers using the Proficy SOA
API. Attendees will be introduced to the service provider development life cycle. Students will
be taught the basics of how to write a custom service provider that interacts with the Proficy
SOA platform and the Proficy Workflow product.
16.2 Who Should Attend?
This course is intended for Proficy Solution integrators and developers that are responsible for
advanced Proficy SOA configuration. The class is designed for persons who want to create
custom service providers that function with the Proficy SOA platform.
16.3 Are There Any Prerequisites?
Suitable candidates should have attended the Proficy Workflow Fundamentals training course.
Exposure to programming constructs is essential. Students should be knowledgeable of

Proficy Workflow Fundamentals is a three-day course that focuses on elementary
configuration and development of Proficy Workflow applications. Participants will work with
a sample system to connect Workflow to a variety of data source applications. Administration,
authoring and reporting activities are also provided to present a complete and practical
orientation to the Proficy Workflow solution.

This course is aimed at those who will be designing developing and deploying Proficy
Workflow in an industrial setting.
17.3 Are There Any Prerequisites?
Suitable candidates will be experienced with Windows operating systems. Database
knowledge will be an asset for reporting topics. Familiarity with at least one of the other
Proficy solutions, such as Proficy iFIX. Proficy CIMPLICITY, Proficy Historian, Proficy
Portal or Proficy Plant Applications is also recommended.

18.1 Course Description
The PACSystems Programming course familiarizes students with GE IP PACSystems
Controller programming concepts and Proficy Machine Edition software. Starting with the
PACSystems software architecture, students are taught how to effectively develop control
applications using building block concepts. This course builds upon Object-Oriented concepts
with User-Defined Function Blocks (UDFBs), as well as the development of application
components using Structured Text (ST) and Function Block Diagram (FBD) programming
languages.

This course is intended for those who are or will be involved in the development,
modification, and troubleshooting of control systems using Proficy Logic Developer and
PACSystems controllers.

Participants should be comfortable operating Microsoft Windows, and have some experience

The Kepware OPC Fundamentals course is designed as an introduction to Kepware
Technologies’ OPC-enabled products, such as KEPServerEX, LinkMaster and
RedundancyMaster. Included is an overview of OPC concepts. The architecture of
KEPServerEX, with regards to OPC communication as well as other clients and drivers, will
be thoroughly explored. Other topic areas include:
