    ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CHANGE

    FAST-NU Spring 2010

    Course Description:

    This course is a combination laboratory-field course requiring the integration of behavioralscience theories, tools, concepts, and techniques learned in the class to an OB application in a"real" organization.

    Course Objective(s):

    At the end of this course, the student should understand important topics central toorganizational development and change. Specifically, students should:

    Understand that there are many multiple views of organizations that influenceorganizational change

    Understand the nature of planned change, theories and types of change, the role ofvalues and ethics in organizational change, and the concept of emergent change

    Understand and be able to apply the process oforganizational developmentincludinginitiating change and OD relationships, diagnosing organizational issues, andcollecting and analyzing data as well as change implementation processes

    Complete a service learning or action research project during the semester andprovide both oral and written reports of the project

    - Additional Required Reading: Periodically during this course additional reading to

    augment the textbooks on certain topics will be required. Additional requiredmaterials will be provided either available to students through electronic resources atHEC digital library or in some cases arranged by the instructor.

    CLASS STRUCTURE: Classes will be a combination of mini-lectures, discussions (especially ofassigned readings and projects), activities and guest speakers. A schedule is provided listingtopics I expect to cover each week. Short lectures will be used to highlight some of thematerial in the textbook, other assigned reading, cases or exercises, or additional outsidematerial relevant to the course topics.GRADING AND EVALUATION:

    First Mid Term: 10 marks

    Second Mid Term: 15 Marks

    Class Participation: 05 Marks

    Quiz and Assignment: 05 Marks

    Course project and presentations: 15 Marks

    Final Exam: 50 Marks
