The art and science of making sense of data is ahighly sought after skill in today’s data drivenworld. This revolutionary skill known as datascience is becoming a must have talent thatemployers seek in candidates. Data science isnow recognized as a highly-critical growth areawith impact across many sectors includingscience, government, finance, health care, manufacturing, advertising, retail, andothers. Companies are searching for datascientists. This specialised field demandsmultiple skills not easy to obtain throughconventional curricula.

Introduction to Data Science using R lives up toits name. It highlights basic principles of datascience and focuses on developing theunderstanding and the capabilities you need tofully appreciate the insights data can provide ustoday. You'll apply the R programminglanguage and statistical analysis techniques tocarefully-explained examples. This course willcover the elements that make up data scienceso that you understand the basic concepts andbecome confident in applying data science toreal world data challenges.

Every object on earth is generating data, including our homes, our cars and yes even ourbodies. Data is the by-product of our new digital existence. Enterprise systems, machines, sensors, social networks and so many other data factories are the catalyst of the explosion ofdata in our world. It is therefore very easy to be overwhelmed by the amount of data we areexposed to. As scary as it may seem, this in fact is propelling us into the greatest age ofdiscovery our species has ever known. As we move from isolation into massively connectedworld, data is a key ingredient which can be leveraged to deliver value and insights. Datapresents unprecedented opportunities to those who have the skills and expertise to use it tounveil patterns, insights, signals and predict trends which was never possible before.

So, be part of the data revolution byattending this course to gauge thefundamentals of data science and leavearmed with a firm understanding of thefoundations of data science using R to extractvalue from data. With the knowledge andskills gained from this practical course, youwill gain a competitive advantage inunderstanding data which will set you ingood stead to further your knowledge andcareers in the field of data science. It will alsoallow you to set the ground work inpreparing you for more advance levels ofdata science courses.

“If you are looking for a career where your services will be in high demand, you should find something where you provide a scarce, complementary service to something that is getting ubiquitous and cheap. So what’s getting ubiquitous and cheap? Data. And what is complementary to data? Analysis. So my recommendation is to take lots of courses about how to manipulate and analyze data: databases, machine learning, econometrics, statistics, visualization, and so on.”

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

So, here’s the deal-You won’t be a master R programmer by the end of this three-day course, but we sure can guarantee you will have learned the basics of R’ssyntax and grammar, and you’ll have started building an effective R vocabulary forvisualizing, transforming, and modelling data. You will also learn how to load, save, and transform data as well as how to write functions, generate beautifulgraphs, and fit basic statistical models to your data- not bad for a 3 day gig? Wewill also give you a conceptual framework to help you understand the datascience lifecycle, but remember, our focus is on practical tools that you can use assoon as you get out there in the jungle of data!

To make things relevant and interesting, all our techniques are motivated by realproblems, and you’ll be exposed to a number of real datasets throughout thecourse. As we hate the boring one sided training ordeals, we alternate brieflectures with hands-on practice: you’ll get plenty of experience actually using R(not just hearing about it!), and there’s plenty of help available if you get stuck-we love to help!
