This short course will help your staff to cover Standard 13 from the Care Certificate and will help care workers to: Be aware of key legislation that governs all moving and handling tasks. Know how to assess risks in relation to moving and handling people and/or objects. Know safe moving and handling techniques in relation to people and/or objects. Our course therefore includes: The Legal Framework The Assessment Process (T I L E) Anatomy Practical exercises in moving and handling people The practical exercises are based on The Guide to the Handling of People (6th Edition) published by BackCare. We do not train delegates on this course in the use of hoists other than in very general terms. There are so many different types and we find that the manufacturers or suppliers usually prefer to train users themselves - often free of charge. For some of the practical exercises, an empty bed will be required. For Health & Safety reasons, it is not possible for our trainers to demonstrate practical techniques on any of your service users. One of the delegates will be requested to act as a service user for the purposes of the demonstration. It would also be extremely helpful if you could forward a copy of your Moving & Handling policy together with your assessment procedure if you have these in place. The course can be taught in general terms but it does help to know beforehand of any procedures regarding Moving and Handling which are already in place.
