grams (CTE) are on the cutting edge of today’s technology. Courses are designed and taught to industry standards. All of the skills students gain in our program transfer directly to the workforce and/or to prepare them for post-secondary education.

Students have the opportunity to receive college credits.

Our Work-based Learning Program offers students opportunities to gain workplace skills through either paid or nonpaid employ-

ment.

All our programs offer student leadership opportunities through

co-curricular organizations. Students are able to compete, travel, and interact with students from across the nation. Many of our students have placed in national contests. These competitions help further students skills.

Many of our courses* offer students the opportunity for credit

equivalency (Example: Photography satisfies Fine Arts gradua-tion requirement).

Tri-Tech Skills Center and Delta High School are cooperatively owned facilities with area school districts and are an extension and educational resource to Pasco School District students.

Students must find a “Mentor” who oversees their project. Mentors must be at least 21 years of age and cannot be a family member.

Students are also required to compile a Portfolio. Portfolios are viewed by community members when evaluating their Project presentations. Contents of the portfolio include all components of the Project which are:

Senior students must also create an 8-10 minute PowerPoint presentation. The presentation includes student’s goals

and aspirations for life after graduation, as well as information about their service project and the lessons learned

from this experience. Students may choose to include other life-changing events that have helped to mold their char-

acter. PowerPoint presentations will be made to a panel of community members at Senior Boards, which are held in

the spring ~ prior to graduation.

The Chiawana High School course schedule is created based on the courses that each student chooses in the spring.

When a student enters their requests in the computer, the number of classes that are offered come from that infor-

mation. If a student chooses classes that they do not really want to take and decide to change their schedule once

school begins, there may not be enough room for students in particular classes.

The counselors provide registration advising for each student prior to registering for classes. Each student should

register for the required classes for their grade level and the electives that they wish to take next year. A student must

only register for the amount of classes that they will be taking. They may not register for more or less than they may

take during the year.

After receiving their schedules in the fall students without six (6) classes must meet with their counselor and fix their

incomplete schedule.

Students wishing to make a change to their schedule must fill out a Schedule Change Request Form which requires sig-

natures from the student, parent, and teacher. The counselor will then review and either approve or deny the request.

Requests made simply to get a specific teachers or lunch will not be approved. Dropping a class after 20 days will re-

sult in a failing grade that will remain on the transcript and will impact the permanent GPA. A student also may not

change their schedule because they changed their mind after registering for classes.

After all students have full schedules, there may be schedule changes for the following reasons.

1. To balance class loads so that classes are equal.

2. To make adjustments for failed classes or for classes completed during summer school.

3. To make adjustment for inappropriate placement.
