Budget Planning Commit-tee recommends 2020

Ministry Resource Plan In their meeting September 30, and in a follow-up meet-ing October 7, the BPC carefully reviewed the budget requests submitted by the staff, ministry teams and com-mittees and voted to recommend it to the congregation.

Proposed budgets for the Snyder Learning Center (for-merly the Preschool & Learning Center and After School Program) and Music Academy were also reviewed.

The MRP will be presented to the Deacons in their Oc-tober 20 meeting, and to the congregation at the called meeting Wednesday, October 23, at 6pm in the Fellow-ship Hall.

Copies of the approved MRP will be in the literature racks throughout the church beginning Sunday, October 13, and upon request, can be e-mailed to you as a pdf document.

The 3.849 million dollar budget has no overall increase proposed for 2020, but as a result of the church being debt-free, in 2020 $169,000 is available for other min-istries, programs and needed maintenance items. Our strong emphasis on missions continues, with nearly 28 cents of every dollar given going to missions causes.

2019 weekly giving continues to be well above 2018 lev-els as we go into Fall. As the end of the year approach-es, every member is encouraged to commit to support the mission and ministries of Snyder. Please review your giving and be as generous as possible, not only to special offerings, but also to support the ongoing ministries of the church.

YFC is off to a great start this year with 11 clubs operating each week and over 400+ students participating.

The only problem is we need more ADULT volunteers. It’s hard to break into small groups without enough adult leaders. If you want more info please contact Craig or the YFC representative if you want to help out. Pastor’s Perspective

Many of you may already receive the monthly newsletter from Garry Winebarger, Executive Director of the Fayetteville Area Youth for Christ. The one he wrote back in May of this year has stayed on my heart and mind ever since. Several of the Youth for Christ leaders involved in our local schools decided to have a question and answer forum with high school students before the on-campus ministry concluded for the year. Students were invited to submit questions that the leaders answered in a live session with all of the students involved in this ministry. One of the leaders then asked the students to share in one word what is missing from their lives. Their candid, free-flow-ing answers broke my heart: mom, happiness, love, confidence and hope.

Moved by the experience, the students then asked the leaders to come back for one final week. The team got together and felt led to speak truth and affirmation into and over each student by name. They prayed that Glod would reveal to them what each student needed to hear. At that final meeting, one of the leaders addressed each student one at a time and in front of the other students, speaking truths and affirma-tions into their hearts and minds. Tears flowed down their cheeks as they felt the love of both these Youth for Christ mentors and the Lord they represent.

I ran into Garry a couple of weeks ago and he shared with me the greatest need of the ministry today. Volunteers – both men and women – who are willing to attend these very informal meetings in the schools to build relationships with the students who come and just be available to dialogue with them about life and faith. Some of these students do not attend church. Some don’t have good role models at home or a trusted adult in whom they can confide about what is going on in their lives. But they’ll come to these meetings because they are searching for something. They may not know what, but they know something is missing in their lives. Garry told me pro-spective volunteers can come to one of these meetings with absolutely no obligation. Just to witness what is happening and see if it might be something they might want to do. Henry Blackaby, in Experiencing God, said we need to see where God is working in the world and then join Him in that work. God is working through Youth for Christ in our community. He is looking for volunteers to make an eternal difference for Him. I told Garry I would spread the word.

See you Sunday! ~ John
