Mr. W. P. Severn 200 Wolf Creek Casper, Wyoming 82601
Dear Bill:
I am sorry for the delay I caused in fulfilling your request for information. The note on my desk was, in effect, a request for information on wells drilled since January of 1968. Now that this is straightened out we shall "^et cracking" with your request.
The two wells mentioned in your last letter are the
ktGulf #1 Barber and the Gulf #1 Jacquot oil tests. An attempt to log these two wells was made. however, in both cases the (-4
probe would not go down as far as the top of the Pierre Shale and electrical logs were not obtained.
At the time of your visit this was known, but the tests were on the confidential list. When a test is confidential we only give out location, name, and total depth of the well, and you already had this information.
The wells are no longer confidential and all information can be made public. We are sending you a copy of the sample descriptions in lieu of your request for the non-exis@it electric logs.
The best and most complete source of samples of wells drilled in the State is located here in Vermillion. At the present time a sample laboratory building is nearing
Mr. W. P. Severn Page 2
completion. In this building we shall store all of the oil test samples, and samples of many water wells that have been drilled in the State. In/event you arrive before the build-ing is completed, we shall find adequate space for you to study the cuttings.
Sincerely,
Robert A. Schoon Geologist

Pear Duncan:
Enclosed is a copy of Roger Allen's letter outlining some of the information that will be presented to the Oil and Gas Board at the June 7 hearing.
As mentioned by Allen in his letter, it is difficult to compare costs on the two wells. Allen fails to point out that the large location expense and the transportation expense ein the laLE.U991 are a result of the isolated area where the test was drilled and cannot properly be charged to the decreased hole size of the stratigraphic test. The increased cost of these two items in the Jacquot test over the #1 Harry test is $4,904 and represents a cost of S1.08 per foot.
T. do not believe a great deal of preliminary work is required prior to the hearing, but will have a chance to discuss this with you when I am at Vermillion.
My tentative plan is to drive to Vermillion, June 4, and then drive to rierre early June 7 for the hearing. I think Carol will come to Vermillion with me, but will let you know for sure in about a week.
Sincerely,
Carl Cox senior Geologist
