    Unitary Republic

    The name Tanzania derivesfrom the names of the two

    states Tanganyika and

    Zanzibar that united in 1964

    to form the United Republic

    of Tanganyika and

    Zanzibar, which later the

    same year was renamed the

    United Republic of Tanzania.

    These two states were

    previously divided between

    Germany and Britain

    Argentina remained a stable

    entity during many crises and

    was a major food supplier for

    the allies during the two

    World Wars. But it saw

    military regimes and corruptgovernments which led to an

    economic slump and a loss

    of the country's prestige at

    the end of their loss in the

    Falklands War of 1982. By

    2002 the economy was is a

    state of turmoil and had

    defaulted on its foreign debt.

    But prudent policies since

    then have led to an

    economic revival.

    Guyana is racially and

    ethnically heterogeneous,

    composed chiefly of the

    descendants of immigrants

    who came to the country as

    either enslaved or

    indentured labourers from

    Africa, India, Ireland, the

    Netherlands, Germany and

    plantations. The population

    therefore is made up of

    groups with ethnic

    backgrounds from India,
