Financial Aid Financial Aid is for cancer patients on current active treatment or who are palliative. Once off payment. Patients can apply for Financial Aid and Travel2Care On receipt of application; the process will take approximately 2 weeks. 3 weeks if furtherinformation is requested. We assess each application on a case by case basis. A healthcare professional must besatisfied that there is a genuine financial need and all other avenues have beenexhausted.Over 1 Million euro was distributed in 2011 to cancer patients 8. Travel2Care Travel2Care is a scheme that is funded by National Cancer Control Programme and isadministered by Irish Cancer Society. The Travel2Care scheme is specifically aimed at patients who have beendisadvantaged by the transfer of cancer services from their local hospital and whohave a genuine financial difficulty in meeting the costs of travelling to designatedcancer care centres. Travel2Care will cover some of the costs incurred for travelling to a designated cancercare centre for assessment & investigations, surgery, chemotherapy and/orradiotherapy appointments. Must be travelling a minimum of 30 kilometres. There are no automatic entitlement to funds we assess each application on a case bycase basis. A healthcare professional must be satisfied that there is a genuinefinancial need 11.
