IMPORTANT NOTIFICATIONS

The following will be made available on the CAREERS portal of the Council:

- Information on accessing ICSE / ISC 2016 Examination Results.

- Submission of request by Schools for Recheck of ICSE / ISC 2016 Examinations.

- Submission of requests for grant of eligibility to candidates applying for admission to

Class XI of ISC for the Year 2018 Examination.

- Checking of Entry Details of candidates registered for the ICSE/ISC 2017 Examinations.

Heads of Schools are to kindly ensure that all admissions to Classes IX and XI in respect of

candidates for entry to the ICSE (Class X) Examination and ISC (Class XII) Examinations are

positively regularized by 31st July 2016 for ICSE (Class X) and 31st August 2016 for

ISC (Class XII), respectively.

No change of subject is permissible. Candidates are not permitted to change any of the subjectswith which they have been registered for the ICSE and ISC Examinations.

Candidates who desire to change subject(s) after completion of Classes IX or XI would be requiredto repeat Classes IX or XI with the new subject(s).

Heads of Schools are requested to kindly log on to the CAREERS PORTAL and click on the tile“Periodic Updates” for regular update.

Kindly enter all details as specified with given changes ‘if any’ (Change of Principal, Contact Nos/Fax/ Email IDs etc.) in the ‘Periodic Update form” before submission. All completed forms willthen be approved and updated accordingly in the “My School” module by the Council.

In the case of a new appointment of a Principal, it is requested to kindly submit scanned copies ofthe Educational Qualifications i.e., Post Graduate Degree Certificates and Bachelor of EducationDegree Certificates. Teaching experience and Contact (Mobile Phone No) may also be sent throughemail [email protected] for necessary changes in the School Information Record (My School).

MIGRATION CERTIFICATES

1. The Office of the Council has decentralised the issue of Migration Certificates in order to facilitatetheir availability to candidates.

In this connection Heads of Schools may place a bulk order of their requirement of MigrationCertificates for candidates who pass the ICSE/ISC-Year 2016 Examination and propose to seekadmission for continuing their studies in educational institutions other than in those affiliated to theCouncil.

2. The charge for a Migration Certificate is Rs. 150/-. The total amount for the Migration Certificatesrequired by a school should be remitted online to the Council. On receipt of the payment, theMigration Certificates will be despatched by Registered Post from the Council’s Kolkata office tothe Heads of Schools.

3. The Migration Certificates are to be kept in a secure place directly under the charge of the Head ofthe School.

4. The Heads of Schools are to ensure that the following precautions are taken while processing theissue of Migration Certificates.

(a) Migration Certificates are issued only to successful (Pass Certificate Awarded)candidates.

(b) A register, recording the numbers on the Migration Certificates issued to candidates, ismaintained.

(c) The Migration Certificate is countersigned by the Head of the School indicating the nameof candidate and the school, along with the candidate’s UID Number.

5. The Migration Certificates in stock may be carried forward to subsequent examinations.

6. All Heads are requested to kindly cooperate with the Council to ensure that the candidates are notinconvenienced due to a delay in the processing of Migration Certificates.

A. AWARDS AND CONDITIONS FORAWARDS: ICSE YEAR 2016EXAMINATION

(1) Pass Certificates will be awarded tocandidates who attain the pass standard inat least five subjects, which must includethe subject English.

Provided that no candidate, except asotherwise exempted by the Council, shallbe awarded a Pass Certificate unless inaddition to fulfilling the conditions abovehe/she has attained a pass grade in SUPWand Community Service asexamined/assessed internally by theSchool.

(2) Supplementary Pass Certificates will beawarded to candidates who have obtainedPass Certificates and who appear in asubsequent examination and attain the passstandard in one or more subjects.

(3) Statement of Marks will be issued to allcandidates who appeared for theexamination.

(4) Issue of results: All results will be issuedthrough the Heads of schools to whomresults will be sent as soon as possible afterthe award has been completed. The resultsheets show the result in the examination asa whole and also indicate the standardreached in each subject taken by grades 1 to9, 1 being the highest and 9 the lowest.Grade 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 indicate a pass withcredit, 6 or 7 indicate a pass and 8 and 9 afailure. Very Good is indicated by 1 or 2.

The standard reached in Socially UsefulProductive Work and Community Service(internally assessed) will be shown on theMark Sheet by grades A, B, C, D or E. Abeing the highest and E the lowest; A, B, Cor D indicate a pass and E a failure.

B. PASS CERTIFICATES /SUPPLEMENTARY PASSCERTIFICATES

Pass Certificates / Supplementary PassCertificates will be issued through the Heads ofSchools as soon as possible after the publicationof results.

Duplicates of Pass Certificates/ SupplementaryPass Certificates are not issued, instead aCertifying Statement of Examination Resultsmay be requested online.

Duplicates of Statement of Marks will be issuedonce the request has been made online andverified. The charge for a duplicate Statementof Marks is Rs.1000/- only, payable online.

C. ENQUIRIES CONCERNINGEXAMINATION RESULTS / RECHECKOF ANSWER SCRIPTS

(1) All enquiries concerning examinationresults on behalf of school candidates mustbe made to the Chief Executive andSecretary of the Council by the Principalof the School concerned and must reach theCouncil’s Office, not later than thespecified date. Schools are asked to bear inmind that a large number of answer scriptsare re-marked before the award.

Enquiries should be restricted to results,which are significantly below the standardsuggested by the candidate’s school workin the subject.

(2) Recheck: The accuracy of subject gradesawarded will be checked on request, in oneor more subjects, provided that the Head ofthe School forwards the request onlineto the Council. These requests must bemade not later than one month after thedeclaration of results. Schools will berequired to pay the charges online for eachrecheck, as prescribed by the Councilfrom time to time.

(3) The recheck will be restricted to checkingwhether all the answers have been markedand that there has been no mistake in thetotalling of marks for each question in thesubject and transferring marks correctly onthe first cover page of the answer booklet,and whether the continuation sheetsattached to the answer script mentioned bythe candidate are intact. No other re-evaluation of the answer script or otherwork done by the candidate, as part of theexamination will be carried out.

(i) No candidate, person or organizationshall be entitled to claim re-evaluationor disclosure or inspection of theanswer scripts or copies of it or otherdocuments as these are treated as mostconfidential by the Council.

(ii) The recheck will be carried out by acompetent person appointed by theChief Executive and Secretary of theCouncil.

(iii) On rechecking the scripts if it is foundthat there is an error, the marks will berevised accordingly.

(iv) The communication regarding therevision of marks, if any, shall be sentonline to the Head of the School.

(v) The Council will not be responsible forany loss or damage or anyinconvenience caused to the candidate,consequent to the revision of marks andno claims in this regard shall beentertained.

(vi) The Council shall revise the Statementof Marks and Pass Certificate in respectof such candidates whose result haschanged, after the previous Statementof Marks and Pass Certificate havebeen returned by the Head of theSchool.

The decision of the Chief Executive andSecretary of the Council on the result of thescrutiny and recheck shall be final.

(4) Main Weakness Report: If the Head of aSchool considers that the results in one subjectare significantly below reasonable expectation,the Chief Executive and Secretary of theCouncil may ask the examiners for specialnotes on the Main Weaknesses shown by thework of a few selected candidates from theschool. It is necessary to limit such notes to onesubject per school on any one occasion ofexamination and to restrict the enquiry to thework of not more and not less than sixcandidates whose work is significantly belowthe standard as suggested by the candidates’school work in the subject. Applications forspecial notes must be sent online to theCouncil’s Office not later than one month afterthe declaration of results. Chargescommensurate with the work involved willhave to be paid online to the Council by theSchool.

The charges are ` 5000/- for the MainWeakness Report.

D. LAST DATE FOR RETAINING ANSWERSCRIPTS

The Council does not undertake to retainanswer scripts of candidates beyond 60 daysafter the declaration of results.

Indian School Certificate Examination (Class - XII)

A. AWARDS AND CONDITIONS FORAWARDS ISC YEAR 2016EXAMINATION

(1) Pass Certificates will be awarded tocandidates who at one and sameexamination attain the pass standard in fouror more subjects which must include thesubject English. Provided that no candidate,except as otherwise exempted by theCouncil, shall be awarded a Pass Certificateunless in addition to fulfilling the conditionsabove, he/she has attained a pass grade inSUPW and Community Service asexamined /assessed internally by the School.

(2) Supplementary Pass Certificates will beawarded to candidates who have obtainedPass Certificates and who appear in asubsequent examination and attain the passstandard in one or more subjects.

(3) Statement of Marks will be issued to allcandidates who appear for the Examination.

(4) Issue of results: All results will be issuedthrough the Heads of Schools to whomresults will be sent as soon as possible afterthe award has been completed. KIND ATTENTION

RECHECK OF ANSWER SCRIPTS

Recheck is permitted in all subjects at the ICSE and ISC Examinations and must be applied for online.

The charge for a recheck per subject is `800/-.

DECLARATION OF RESULTS

Heads of Schools are hereby informed that ICSE/ISC Year 2016 Examination results will not be given

at the Council’s Office to any individual. The ICSE and ISC Examination results will be sent to the

Conveners only.

Heads of Schools are requested to advise candidates and their parents that they should not enquire about

results from the Council’s Office.

ADMISSIONS TO CLASSES IX, X, XI AND XII

Kindly note the following:

1. Direct admissions to Classes X and XII are not allowed.

2. As per the Regulations, candidates are required to put in 75% attendance of the total working days

in each of the academic years i.e. Classes IX & X and Classes XI & XII in respect of the ICSE &

ISC Examinations respectively, to be eligible for appearing in the concerned examination.

3. The following documents must be uploaded with the request for transfer admissions online:

a) Promotion record of the candidate

b) Attendance record of the candidate

c) Transfer Certificate

d) Undertaking by the Head of the admitting school stating that the candidate will study the same

subjects as offered by him/her in his/her previous school.

4. Transfer admissions from one affiliated school to another

Heads of school must ensure that the school has adequate provision for the teaching and learning ofthe subjects offered by candidates whom they wish to admit.

A change of subject is not permitted.

TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMMES

Instructions regarding the registration for the Training Programmes will be made availableon the Council’s website: www.cisce.org under the link “TRAINING”.

The Participation Fee for each training programme is ` 2000 /- per participant, the paymentof which must be made online. No seat shall be considered confirmed unless thePARTICIPATION FEE has been paid.

Schools are requested to login to the CAREERS Portal and click on the “Payment” tile.Next click on ‘Payments for Training” tile to enter all necessary details.

The fee will neither be transferable to another programme nor refundable. The fees paid willbe refunded only if the Council decides to cancel the programme due to unavoidablecircumstances.

The arrangements as well as all expenses for boarding, lodging, travel etc., are to be madeand borne by the school.

Participants are expected to attend all the sessions on all days of the programmes.

All participants are requested to be present at the venue on the first day of the programmeby 9.45 a.m. to complete registration formalities.

The Programme will be from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on all days.

Certificates of Participation will ONLY be issued to participants who attend the trainingprogrammes on all days of the concerned training programme.

Findings of the National Achievement Survey conducted by NCERTIn the first ever standardized country wide test for Class X students, conducted by the National Council ofEducational Research and Training (NCERT), ICSE students have outperformed their counterparts fromCBSE and State Boards.

The test which was carried out as a part of a sample survey, assessed achievement levels of students in fivemajor subjects - English, Mathematics, Social Science, Science and Modern Indian languages. ICSE studentsachieved top honours .

THE DEROZIO AWARD

Instituted by:Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations

For Education and Human Enrichment

For Principals / Teachers

Henry L.V. Derozio (1809 – 1830), arguably the first Indian poet, freedom fighter and socialreformer, was fondly referred to as the “National Bard of Modern India.” He taught English at HinduCollege (later Presidency College), Calcutta, and set up a youth movement to promote nationalismand enlightened living. Through his writing he fired the imagination of a generation of ‘Derozians’,young people of conviction who were prepared to make any sacrifice for the cause of ‘freedom’.‘The Harp of India’, ‘To India my Native Land’ and ‘Fakir of Jungheera’ are among his best knownwritings.

The ‘Derozio Awards’ are being instituted to celebrate and commemorate the life of this greatrevolutionary, so that his life may inspire a new generation of people to emulate his life and work,in the service of the nation.

Objective:

The Derozio Awards for exemplary service to school education and human enrichment have beeninstituted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi, to honourand motivate people to serve the nation in a manner that clearly defines leadership in an identifiedsphere.The Awards seek to: identify people who make a difference in their sphere of work;

promote a sense of achievement, recognition and support for a cause;

recognize the work of people for the greater good of humanity;

establish a role for people to contribute to the nation;

enable professional people to reach out;

generate concern for the social, physical or cultural ecology of the nation;

enhance global goodwill and understanding.

Categories of Awards:The Awards will be given annually in any two of the following categories covering:1. Service in the sphere of school education promoting quality teaching practices;2. Service in the sphere of educational administration and management; and3. Service to education through goodwill, human understanding and enrichment.

Note: (a) The jury at its discretion will decide each year in which two categories the awards willbe made.

(b) At least one of the two awards will be given to a teacher/Principal associated with aSchool affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations.

Awards:

Each award will consist of the following:

1. An Engraved Gold Medal – 24 gms (22 carats)

2. A Citation Plaque Engraved in Silver

3. A Certificate / Scroll

4. An amount of ` 1 Lakh in the form of an account payee cheque.

The Jury

The Jury shall consist of the following:

(i) The Chairman of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, shall be ex-officio

Chairman of the jury.

(ii) An eminent public servant or ex-judge of the Supreme Court.

(iii) Two eminent educationists who have established record(s) of service in school education.

(iv) A person of eminence, who has served in the armed forces.

(v) The Chief Executive of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations shall be the ex-

officio Secretary to the Jury.

Note: Appointments of members in categories (ii), (iii) and (iv) will be made by the Executive Committeeof the Council each year.

Role of Jury

The Jury will meet sometime in July/August each year, discuss and finalise the Awards. The nominations willbe initially screened by a committee under the Chief Executive of the Council. Twenty shortlisted nominationswill be put up to the Jury. The Jury shall decide the awardees for the year.

The Process

The procedure for application is flexible. Nomination forms are designed to provide basicinformation. Additional documentation would be called for from shortlisted nominees.

Validity of Nominations

Nominations received will be considered only for the year in which the application is made.

Procedure

The Jury shall meet once a year to consider the nominations and make its selections.

The Jury shall establish procedures for selecting the awardees.

The decision of the Jury will be final and binding.

The Jury may make recommendations to the Executive Committee of the Council to promote

the Awards.

The Secretary to the Jury shall convene the meeting.
