My Brother Knights and their families:

I would like to invite all Mater Dei Members to a special Book Party on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at our Council Hall. Catholic blogger, internet radio co-host, and Mater Dei Knight Charles DeFeo OP has recently published a new book entitled “Walk by Faith to Live Joyfully.” Charlie will be on hand to discuss his book. Copies of the book will be available for sale. Please see the Notice elsewhere in this newsletter for more information about this exciting event.

On an administrative matter, please note that we are planning to move our Council meeting from the first to the third Monday of each month starting in January, 2017. The change is being made due to an ongoing conflict with the St. Pius X Ushers’ meetings. I plan to make a motion at our December meeting to reset our meetings to the third Monday, effective in January, 2017, and to modify the By-Laws to reflect this change.

As a reminder, the annual Memorial Mass for deceased Knights is on Sunday, November 6.

The Pre-Thanksgiving/Christmas CAPT’N CHUCKY’S order pick up will occur on November 20 from 8:00 to 12:00.

We have scheduled a Knight’s Mass at St. Pius. We will process at the 11:30 Mass on Sunday, December 4. Knights should wear jacket and tie. We will again wear our yellow and white sashes. The Keep Christ in Christmas card sale will take place after all masses on December 3 & 4.

As previously noted, the Council Christmas party will be on December 3. The Light up for Christ ceremony will be on December 5, and the Children’s Christmas party will be on December 11.

Please remember that the COAL drive continues. This is an important source of revenue for the Council’s service and charitable activities. Let’s try to sell as many tickets as possible.

Thank you for your prayers and support.

PS: Please refer to the calendars and announcements for all our Council activities in future versions of the Observer. Also please check your e-mails often for last minute announcements and reminders.

Greetings 4th Degree Brother Knights! Many thanks to those who attended last month's 4th degree meeting. We are finally starting to move ahead, even if it has taken baby steps. Our next meeting is on Monday evening, November 7, at 7PM, in the "TV" room as you enter the council home. Our general meeting follows at 7:30PM in the upstairs chambers. If you are a 4th degree Knight and plan to attend our general meeting, plan on arriving a half hour early. We don't share anything we discuss in the Observer as we are sworn to secrecy. You must attend to find out what is happening.
