Phil – Work outfit

Page 3: Costumes

Why?

• I designed this for Phil’s outfit for work, as I feel the dress code for suits was more laid back in the 1980’s as that was the fashion, and I feel Phil’s profile matches to this outfit.

• I have attempted to give him a black and white stripy blazer/shirt, as in the 1980’s there weren't many plain blazers to be seen, they all seemed to have patterns.

• I also felt as even though of patterened blazers were the trend, the outfit still needed some smart qualities, such as plain black shoes that men of this generation still wear to work, and plain black trousers. This is as if the trousers were patterened, you wouldn’t be taken seriously, as it is still a job.

Phil – Night out with friends outfit

Page 6: Costumes

Why?

• I designed this for Phil’s night out with friends outfit, as it is much more relaxed and cool than the work outfit.

• Even though the outfit is casual, the main focus of the image is the colours. This is showing the trend of colours in the 1980’s and everyone would dress in all different colours, including men.

• Shirts with prints and two/three colours were the fashion people used to adapt too in the 80’s region.

Abigail – work outfit

Why?

• I designed this for Abigail’s work outfit as I reviewed a few images on the 1960s fashion, and this short/smart dress repeatedly appeared, in many colours and designs. So I designed an outfit that best-suited Abigail’s job and the appropriateness.

• The trend of short dresses and skirts was very popular, I feel a plain dress would've been too plain for the 60s, so I added buttons, pockets and a collar as this was very popular too. I was planning for the colour of the dress to be a light pink/cream shade. This is as the 60’s was very popular with colours, but I didn’t want the colours to be too bright, as she is at work.

Abigail – Night out with friends outfit

Why?

• I designed this for Abigail’s night out for friends as I mentioned previously, the majority of women wore skirts and dresses as it just became a trend.

• I feel the tight at the top and flared/pleated dress was in the fashion with women in the 60s out of a work environment, as women wanted to show skin but also looking classy too. The colour of the dress was cream toned with bright pink polka dots, but it is not clear in the image.

• Accessories were very popular in the 60’s, so I accessorised Abigail with a pearl necklace.

• I included pink-heeled shoes that are coloured, as the 60s was the era that individuals followed the trend on colour.

• I used Twiggy for some inspiration whilst designing Abigail’s outfit as it was included in her profile she was a fan of her fashion.

• Patterns were also popular, such as stripes and polka-dots as to why I designed her outfit with polka dots.
