Hear from a panel of dangerous goods transportation experts on the challenges that they continue to face with undeclared shipments. There are major container cargo fires at sea roughly every 60 days. Most recently, container lines have introduced fines of several thousands of dollars for shippers that misdeclare hazardous cargo. Battery fires occurring in air transport both passengers and cargo are estimated to be occurring every 7 days. Trending data reflects these incidents are increasing. This US Postal Inspection Service and US Postal Service are working tirelessly to identify undeclare hazardous materials in the mail as these mailpieces are transported on our highways and air networks. TRANSPORT DANGEROUS GOODS CANADA REGULATIONS (TDGR) TRAININGThe Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations (TDGR) and US Hazardous Materials Regulations of Title 49,Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR) are similar, but not identical; most variations, but not all of them, are dealt with by a reciprocal agreement that establishes procedures for cross-border shipments. This half-day training program will provide an overview of the TDGR regulations and identify areas where reciprocity does and does not apply.
