Costa Blanca. A Golf Paradise.
T he average annual temperature of 18
degrees centigrade means that you can play
golf all year round on the Costa Blanca with
the peak season for this sport coinciding with the
mild winters of the region. A true joy for those
wishing to play this sport any day of the year.
Excellent facilities, amongst the best in Europe,
which, generally speaking, form part of resorts and
residential complexes that include hotels, spas and
gymnasiums, offering the perfect combination of
sport and relaxation.
The Costa Blanca is currently one of the leading
international centres of golf, boasting some 21
courses (3 of which are Pitch & Putt courses) all
located in a typical Mediterranean landscape.
And the varied characteristics of each course
meet the requirements of even the most
demanding players.

ALENDA GOLF
Designed by Roland Favrat
A golf course replete with native vegetation which
borders and defines the fairways, and where the easy,
entertaining first 9 holes combine to perfection with
the technically more challenging last nine holes.
It is a relatively rapid course to play, as the holes are
very well linked and the distance from the greens to
the tees is not far.
The first nine holes are medium length and thus favour
precision play over hard hitting. The holes are simple to
play, and the fairways are very wide, making teeing
off a relatively straightforward business.
The last nine holes require considerably greater levels
of concentration, with layouts that require greater
technique rather than covering long distances. You
have to take care with holes 16 and 18 as these often
determine the final result of the scorecard.

ALICANTE GOLF
Designed by Severiano Ballesteros
Alicante Golf was inaugurated in 1998 in a ceremony
officiated over by Severiano Ballesteros. Located in
Playa de San Juan, in the city of Alicante, it is a course
with a large number of water obstacles, making it
tricky to play. It is a flat course where the greens can
be seen from all of the tees. Two rather unusual fea-
tures of the course: the S-shaped lake (representing
the first initial of the designer) which surrounds the
green on hole 9; and the Romanic ruins beside hole 14.
It is a par 72 course which includes six par three holes,
six par four holes and six par five holes – which means
that when playing a round no two consecutive holes
have the same par.
The course’s relative proximity to Alicante means that
there is plenty of accommodation to hand, including
the 5 star Hotel Husa Alicante, located directly on the
golf course facilities.

BONALBA GOLF & SPA
Designed by Ramón Espinosa
Just two kilometres from Playa de San Juan, in the mu-
nicipality of Mutxamel, in a setting that is truly outstan-
ding in terms of its landscape and climate, we find an
impressive, spectacularly designed golf course, where
all of the conditions to allow you to fully enjoy its layout
have been combined together and where you come
up against difficulties that stimulate your play whilst si-
multaneously raising your levels of self-confidence.
The golf course offers a unique variety of different style
holes. Monotony is never a problem, with five breath-
taking lakes having a significant impact on the layout
of ten of the holes, and providing players who are una-
ccustomed to water obstacles with a real challenge.
The distribution of numerous bunkers is another defining
characteristic of the course: 96 bunkers in total which
have been placed strategically along the entire length
of the course.
A tantalising challenge for both amateur and profes-
sional players alike.

REAL CLUB DE GOLF CAMPOAMOR
Designed by Carmelo Gracía
Located between two interconnected valleys and su-
rrounded by gentle slopes that shelter the course from
the wind, it has a very special microclimate. Inaugura-
ted in 1988 by His Royal Highness Juan de Borbón ,
Count of Barcelona, it annually holds the competition
that bears his name.
The course is ideal for both professional and amateur
players alike. The fairways are long and wide, with the
greens and some sloping fairways representing the
greatest difficulty. The existing vegetation was respected
and improved during the course’s construction. The na-
tural environment where the course is located provides it
with unrivalled beauty and special ecological significan-
ce.
The design of the golf course means that difficult, com-
plex rounds can be devised for the most demanding
players with low handicaps or easier rounds for players
who are just beginning or have higher handicaps. It’s a
course that everyone loves and which really helps you
constantly improve your game.
Several of the holes have been redesigned over the last
few years in order to adapt them to the demands
of modern play. 10

CLUB DE GOLF DON CAYO
Designed by Gregorio Sanz, Pedro Barber and
Alexis García-Valdés
As part of the “El Aramo” residential complex project
located on the foothills of the Sierra de Altea, Luis Cam-
pomanes took the decision to create a golf course in
1974, when this sport had few players and even less fo-
llowers in Spain. Situated in the municipality of Altea, it
is close to the Mediterranean sea, offers beautiful views
and is also outstanding because of the light that this
exceptional spot enjoys.
The course is 3,078 metres in length with holes of great
difficulty alternating with recovery holes that require
great precision play to place the ball on the fairway.
Over the last few years extensive works have been ca-
rried out to improve the fairways, slopes, the pine gro-
ves, and the gardening. The bunkers contain marble
sand, making them ideal for striking the ball. The tees
have also been remodelled, thus creating two comple-
tely different nine hole rounds.

CLUB DE GOL EL PLANTIO
Designed by Manuel Ferry Ruiz
El Plantío is a golf course which perfectly harmonises
with the environment. It is a unique site of outstanding
natural beauty, ideally suited for strolling round the
course during a round of golf. The painstaking repopu-
lation of vegetable species gives the course an exotic
atmosphere and offers a different sensation, with each
hole being quite distinct. It was the first course to use
wastewaters for irrigation purposes.
Located 3 kilometres from the city of Alicante, it is the
most urban of the courses, with both 18 hole and 9 hole
courses, and thus being ideally suited for all kinds of
players. It also has a practice course with covered tees
on two levels, the capacity for 120 posts, approach
shots, a putting green and an international golf school
service.
The 18 hole course is par 72, and the 9 hole course con-
sists of par 3 holes. Another 18 hole course is currently
under construction.
It is a golf course with abundant vegetation, outstan-
ding design quality and excellent greens and fairways.
Its courses adapt to the needs and varying levels of all
players, and as such is an ideal destination for all
the family. 14

CLUB DE GOLF IFACH
Designed by Javier Arana
This is a course with some of the best views on the Cos-
ta Blanca - with views of the Penyal d'Ifac and the Me-
diterranean. The course has been designed in such a
way that you need to use all of the different clubs avai-
lable and requires total control when driving and du-
ring approach play.
It is a course that perfectly combines demanding play
with a pleasant stroll. It is a 9 hole course (with 6 par 3
holes and 3 par 4 holes) and although the holes are
short they are technically demanding and tricky due to
the numerous slopes and the narrow fairways. You ha-
ve to really know how to use the different clubs well if
you don’t want to get into trouble. Precision is always
important when playing onto the green, but in this case
it is nothing less than essential. You cannot just rely on
your drive or approach play. Often a seemingly simple
stroke can become a nightmare - turning into multiple
strokes on your scorecard. The distribution of trees and
bunkers make some holes and play in general both ex-
citing and varied.

CLUB DE GOLF JAVEA
Designed by Francisco Moreno
A charming golf course, protected by the Cape of San An-
tonio. It has wide fairways and gives the impression of a
course that is rather easy to play. Nevertheless, you have to
take care with the 34 different bunkers dotted along the len-
gth of the course, and especially those that have been stra-
tegically placed to protect the greens.
Its gentle slopes can make it quite tricky to perform your stro-
kes. Located in an area where splendid pine trees surround
the entire setting, excellent use has been made of the stra-
tegically located Mediterranean vegetation which adds to
the beauty of the course.
The most complicated hole to play is number 6: a par 4, 355
metre long hole with a marked turn to the right. The hole’s
design allows players to enjoy marvellous views. For an ama-
teur player to make par he needs a precise first stroke to gi-
ve him the chance to make the green, or in the worst sce-
nario approach the green, with his second stroke. If he rea-
ches the green on the second stroke, then two putts should
allow the objective to be attained. However, if he doesn’t
reach the green on the second stroke, a good pitch and
putt should give the player something to smile about when
he leaves the most complicated hole on the course.

LA FINCA GOLF
Designed by Pepe Gancedo
La Finca is still a relatively new course, but is has rapidly
matured since it opened its gates in August 2002. Since
then, La Finca has become one of the best courses on
the Costa Blanca and continues to demonstrate its
ever-growing potential.
The course was designed by the famous Spanish course
designer, Pepe Gancedo, and consists of 19 holes (18
+1). The course has ample fairways and spectacular
greens, both in terms of their variedness and their de-
sign characteristics. An excellent example is the 7th ho-
le with its square raised green guarded by an L shaped
bunker. This opening provides an impressive end to the
La Finca "Amen Corner": where holes 5 and 6 are flan-
ked by huge water obstacles that surround the greens
and run along the left-hand side of both holes, with five
carefully constructed waterfalls running into five lakes,
making it an especially tricky part of the course to play,
but with stunning views.

LA MARQUESA GOLF
Designed by Justo Quesada
The course is located in a flat valley between moun-
tains and is protected by a unique microclimate that
permits play all year round. It is now 20 years old and
the surrounding area has undergone important demo-
graphic growth. The buildings, of several different styles,
can be seen by players as they move around the cour-
se.
The course offers a perfect combination of long and
short holes, which gives us time to recover – something
that is always welcome; especially when the scorecard
is not on our side. The course is ideal for players of all
ages. To really enjoy it to the full you should walk round
the course when playing, especially when we have to
make blind strokes.
Such strokes may be a bit worrying at first, but prove to
be a source of great satisfaction when well played. The
best example of this is the 4th hole, a 312 metre long
par 4. When teeing-off you need to use a driver to pla-
ce the ball to the left of the fairway if you want to have
a direct view of the green.

LA SELLA GOLF
Designed by José María Olazábal
La Sella Golf is a par 72 eighteen hole golf course, inaugura-
ted in 1992, with a length of 6289 metres, designed by the
professional golfer José María Olazábal. Under the technical
supervision of José María Olazábal the works to extend it to
27 holes were completed in January 2010.
It has three different 9 hole courses, with three different co-
lours, and each named after the name of the wind that co-
rresponds to their particular orientation, using names taken
from the local language.
Llebeig. The first 9 holes are orientated towards the south.
These holes are located between extensive pine woods and
are characterised by their scenic beauty - with spectacular
views of the Montgó national park. Technically difficult to
play, it is a highly varied course, where players have to make
use of almost all of their clubs.
Gregal. The second 9 hole course takes us to the east. Loca-
ted on flatter ground, this course has water obstacles and a
final series of holes which normally decide the rounds.
Mestral. This is the name of the wind when it blows from the
north, which is cold and feared by farmers, and is the direc-
tion in which theses 9 holes are orientated. The nine holes are
divided into three par 3, 4 and 5 holes, and are located in a
higher area - offering spectacular views of the sea. This cour-
se with wider fairways and large greens has been designed
for you to enjoy your golf in a beautiful natural setting. 28

LAS COLINAS GOLF
Designed by Cabell B. Robinson
The Las Colinas golf course stands out because of its
exclusive, unusual design. It is classified as one of the
best 100 golf courses in continental Europe, according
to the most recent Top 100 ranking published by the
magazine Golf-World, which said that it was a hidden
treasure discovered in Spain. The width of its fairways,
the design of the greens, which are wide and fast, plus
the numerous tees on each hole, provide it with a
great deal of versatility. It is suitable for professional
competitions, whilst also offering all players an enjoya-
ble, accessible course.
Designed by the renowned north-American landscape
artist Cabell B. Robinson, the Las Colinas golf course is a
true reflection of the originality and versatility of his
work – which includes such internationally famed cour-
ses as La Reserva in Sotogrande, Finca Cortesín on the
Costa del Sol, Praia d’El Rey in Portugal and the Royal
Golf d’Evian course in France. In addition to its exclusi-
ve design, the main characteristic of the Las Colinas
golf course is that it adapts to the special orography of
the terrain and blends naturally into the landscape.

LAS RAMBLAS GOLF
Diseñado por José Gancedo
This is a fully consolidated golf course that is a point of
reference for golf on the Costa Blanca. Designed and
constructed in a beautiful natural landscape with ama-

area, with the river beds, watercourses and exuberant
vegetation forming part of the course - especially the
pine trees that exist along its entire length. The trees
provide the course with its own distinct personality
whilst also offering an added level of difficulty. The thick
Mediterranean pines majestically accompany the pla-
yer and can cause real problems if you make a mista-
ke. From several different points you can enjoy magnifi-
cent views of the Mediterranean, with fresh free-flowing
air and numerous shady spots making this a pleasant
place to play golf, even during the hottest months of
the year. An unforgettable course of national and in-

LO ROMERO GOLF
Designed by Jorge Gallen and Enric Soler
Located in Pilar de la Horadada, the southern-most
town in the province of Alicante, on the border with
Murcia and next to the Mediterranean Sea and Mar
Menor. An unrivalled site which has excellent links to
the main airports and motorways in the area.
Lo Romero Golf is a really special 18 hole course. Its va-
ried, meticulous design, adapted to the gentle slopes
and Mediterranean vegetation, make it very pleasant
course and an ideal place to play golf.
The 18th hole is really different: with the green like an
emerald island in the midst of a lake.
It seems like a simple stroke: you only have to get over
the lake. But fear of over hitting or falling short can of-
ten make you tremble, the heart beat faster, raise your
adrenaline and make all of your senses come alive. It’s
a stimulating challenge that deserves to be enjoyed to
the full.

SIERRA CORTINA GOLF
Designed by Patricio Cantalapiedra
Located in Finestrat, just a few kilometres from Beni-
dorm, it offers marvellous, panoramic views of the sea
and the city.
An 18 hole Pitch & Putt course, great for beginners just
beginning their golf adventure and for more experien-
ced players, who will enjoy overcoming different obs-
tacles, such as two artificial lakes, and the course’s
magnificent greens. The shortest fairway is just 55 me-
tres long and the longest fairway is 100 metres in length.
Beginners can start on the course after just a few clas-
ses, without the need to obtain an official handicap.
On the other hand, experienced golfers can enjoy the
different obstacles – including two lakes, and the mag-
nificent greens which are a joy when practicing one’s
approach play.
The shorter distances involved are great for senior pla-
yers and children, as the 18 holes can be played in just
over two hours without great physical effort.

VILLAITANA WELLNESS GOLF
Designed by Nicklaus Design
This has two different courses. The Levante course is a
6,612 metre long, American style course, with wide fair-
ways and exquisitely moulded greens, allowing you to
enjoy marvellous views of the Mediterranean and the
Finestrat mountain range. Given that no urban tourist
developments are located nearby, you can enjoy a
totally natural environment with continuous views of the
sea and mountains, all in the spectacular setting of the
Levantine Mediterranean mountain range.
The Poniente course is 3858 metres long and forms part
of the descent of a valley of Mediterranean pines. The
design of the course allows players of all kinds to enjoy
a great golfing experience, regardless of their handi-
cap.
This course is shorter, but not any less exciting. It requires
higher levels of skill with the use of lower irons and is
very demanding for low-handicap players, although all
of the holes offer alternatives for medium and high
handicap players.
Villaitana Wellness Golf & Business Sun Resort has two 5
and 4 star hotels providing ideal accommodation for
those who are passionate about their golf.

VILLAMARTIN GOLF
Designed by Paul Puttman
Since 1972 Villamartin has been a point of reference for
golf courses in the Valencia region.
With vegetation that is more than 40 years old and am-
ple greens that in 1997 played host to a European Tour
tournament. Severiano Ballesteros, José María Olaza-
bal, Ian Woosnam, Sam Torrance and many other figu-
res from international golf have played and honoured
this course with their presence. The Golf Villamartin
course was designed by John Puttman, who had al-
ready worked on the La Manga Club at the end of the
Sixties.
The Villamartin greens are internationally famed, with
infamous holes, such as the 17th - a par three where
you have to cross a water bed densely populated with
trees and foliage in order to reach the huge, ample
green on two levels. Golf Villamartin has its own exten-
sive community of players from all over Europe who ha-
ve chosen this golf course as a place to live, with golf
and this course forming an integral part of their lifestyle.
Villamartin is without doubt one of the best courses in
the region of Valencia, whilst also being one of the ol-
dest courses in the area.

VISTABELLA GOLF
Designed by Paul Puttman
Manuel Piñero (a former world champion professional
golfer) managed to design a really interesting course,
aimed at both the most demanding professional pla-
yers and those just embarking upon their golfing ad-
venture.
The first 11 holes at Vistabella Golf allow a par 73 eigh-
teen hole course to be configured, which is nearly 6000
metres long. It was designed in accordance with the
guidelines of modern courses, with 4 ample tees for
each hole, wide fairways and raised bunkers.
One novel feature are the 11 and 22 hole green fees,
allowing beginners to play the complete course 2 ti-
mes, as an alternative to the traditional 9 or 18 holes.
On the holes that are repeated different tees have
been located to make the course less challenging or
different each time round.
Its integration into the landscape and the responsible
use of its resources, make Vistabella Golf something
more than just a mere golf course - with 34 hectares of
unique landscape covered with native species of Me-
diterranean trees and shrubs.
