sportsPlease note the below policies that blanket all sportsprograms at Corydon Community Centre:

Sport Team FormationsAll teams are formed based on the number of registeredplayers - if numbers warrant, 2 or 3 teams may be formed inone age group in certain sports. If teams are playing in thesame division they will be as equally balanced as possible. Ifnumbers are such that there are too many to be placed onone team but not enough for an additional team to beformed, then players will have to be transferred to the nextcommunity centre needing players. The method used todecide which players are to be transferred is:

1. Late Registrations2. Volunteers to transfer3. Players from outside Corydon catchment4. Lottery

Any player registering late has no guarantee of a position on a Corydon CC Team.

Uniform DepositsBasketball $100Baseball $100Football $300 (Uniform & Equipment)Softball $100

*All participants will be required to leave a post-dated chequewith their team manager dated for October 31st, 2013. Ifuniforms are not returned, this cheque will be cashed.

We offerdevelopmental teams for children and youth who have notplayed before as well as more competitive teams for thosewho have.

Baseball teams are travelling teams. Usually a team plays thesame number of home and away games. Because of playernumbers, some players may be asked to play for teams fromother community centres. The playoff format has not yet beendetermined, but other than playoff teams, everyone finishesby the end of June.

Team SelectionPlayer tryouts/evaluations and team selections for Mosquito,Peewee, Bantam and Midget will take place as early in April asweather permits. Independent evaluators will be used. Teamswill be formed and team practices will start in late April orearly May. Rally Cap -tons of fun for the kids with emphasis on fun, basicskills and learning the game in a non-competitiveenvironment. Rally Cap is a parent run program so severalvolunteers are required.Rookies - play a more organized game of ball using a pitchingmachine. Games are 2-3 times per week against othercommunity centres with an emphasis on team play, sportsmanship and continued skill mastery.Mosquito is the first year when players start pitching and AAis introduced. All players attend tryouts and will be evaluated -those with higher skill will be asked to play AA ball - a higherand more competitive level.Peewee - A/AA remains at the community centre but at thisage AAA is introduced (the highest level of ball at this agegroup is a regional team, comprised of the best players in allof Winnipeg South).Bantam/Midget - A/AA remain at the community centre withthe Chiefs as the AAA regional team.

UmpiresOlder players (13+) may want to consider umpiring. It's funand the pay is great! Please contact the office for details ofupcoming clinics.

Volunteer OpportunitiesAs coaches and volunteers are needed for all teams, there willbe a sign-up sheet at registration. Most teams will need ascorekeeper, pitch counter, manager, first aid person, equipment manager, someone to install the bases before eachgame, coaches, and if possible, someone who can umpire ifthe scheduled umpire cannot make it. All of these positionsare volunteer positions. If we do not have volunteers to helpout, the kids don't play. Please keep in mind that we needvolunteers when you register.
