INTRODUCTION- - - - - - - - - Mr. T.N.Seshan, former chief election
commissioner of India, opined that every patchof Indian society has become corrupt.
It is a lack of intellectual, moral and financialintegrity of a nation. It is anti-economicdevelopment, anti-national and anti-poor.
Sadly, few people trust their governments orpoliticians. Eight out of 10 say political parties

CAUSES OF CORRUPTION - - - - - Corruption is caused as well as increased
because of the change in the value system andethical qualities of men who administer.
Vast size of population coupled withwidespread illiteracy and the poor economicinfrastructure lead to endemic corruption inpublic life.
In a highly inflationary economy, low salaries of
government officials compel them to resort tothe road of corruption. Graduates from IIMs withno experience draw a far handsome salary thanwhat government secretaries draw.

MEASURES TO COMBAT CORRUPTION Is it possible to contain corruption in our
society?
Corruption is a cancer, which every Indian must
strive to cure.
Corruption is a way of life and nothing can bedone about it. Only people from underdeveloped
or developing countries are prone to corruption. We will have to guard against all these crude
fallacies while planning measures to fight
corruption.
