The backbone suffers:

• When we stay in the same position for a long time

• When we make repeated efforts (big or small)

• When we make sudden movements

Standing up or walking:

•When standing up, move one foot forward

•Don’ t be standing if you can walk

•Walk straight

•Don’t use heels

Sitting:

• Keep your back straight

• Lean the back against the chair

• Keep your knees at 90º angle

Pick up something from the floor:

• Bend your knees

• Pick up the objects till the chest

• Keep the weight near your body

• Try to avoid:

Turn the backbone when picking up weight

Carry the objects away from the body

Sleeping: • A good position is sleeping

on one side (like a baby)

• Also to sleep on your back

• Bend your knee on top when you sleep on side (figures 5 & 6)

Getting up from the seat:

•First, lean onto your hand and then get up with the help of your legs(Fig. 7)

•Not getting up with a jump

•Not throwing on the seat

Getting up from bed:

• First, bend your knees

• Sit on the bed and stand up with the help of your hands (figure 8)

• Get up laterally

Washing your hands and brushing your teeth:

•Don’t bend your back

•Keep your back straight

•Put one foot forward
