MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

This Christmas has been a blessing in many ways here at Corpus Christi Church. A few days after Christmas, we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. This feast was more than 100 years ago by Pope Leo XIII because at that time, just as today, the concept of family was under attack.

In general, the gospels do not tell us much about the Holy Family in the years from Jesus' birth to the beginning of his public ministry. We are aware that they fled to Egypt, returned to Nazareth, and today's gospel tells us of the twelve years old Jesus accompanying his par-ents to Jerusalem. Today we honor that Holy Family, and we understand that they are a model for us as a Christian family. However, there is also an understanding that we need to be aware that we are part of a bigger family, our faith community as Catholic Church and as a parish.

As we conclude 2018, let us give thank to the Lord for ALL that we lived during the past 12 months. We have both good and bad memories. Let all our memories may be placed before

the Lord which is "Light from Light." Let us pray for the families in Corpus Christi, that they may discover their mis-sion.

FELIZ NAVIDAD Y PRÓSPERO AÑO NUEVO

Esta Navidad ha sido una bendición de muchas maneras aquí en la Iglesia Corpus Christi. Unos días después de Navi-dad, celebramos la fiesta de la Sagrada Familia de Jesús, María y José. Esta fiesta fue hace más de 100 años por el Papa León XIII porque en ese momento, al igual que hoy, el concepto de familia estaba bajo ataque.

En general, los evangelios no nos dicen mucho acerca de la Sagrada Familia en los años desde el nacimiento de Jesús hasta el comienzo de su ministerio público. So-mos conscientes de que huyeron a Egipto, regresaron a Nazaret, y el evangelio de hoy nos habla de los doce años que Jesús acompañó a sus padres a Jerusalén. Hoy honramos a esa Sagrada Familia, y entendemos que son un modelo para nosotros como familia cristiana. Sin embargo, también existe un entendimiento de que debe-mos ser conscientes de que somos parte de una familia más grande, nuestra comuni-dad de fe como Iglesia Católica y como parroquia.

Al concluir 2018, démosle gracias al Señor por TODO lo que vivimos durante los últimos 12 meses. Tenemos buenos y malos recuerdos. Dejemos que todos nuestros recuerdos se coloquen ante el Señor que es "Luz de Luz". Oremos por las familias en Corpus Christi, para que descubran su misión de educadores en la fe.

Gracias a todos que nos ayudaron con las ventas de diciembre, recaudamos $670. Los fondos serán usando para el retiro de confirmación en febrero. Thank you to all the parishioners, parents, and children that helped with the fundraiser in one way or another, we collected $670. Funds will be used to cover food and supplies for the confirmation retreat in February.

Join the East Bay District of the Italian Catholic Feder-ation at the Dave Rose Memorial Crab Feed on Satur-day January 19, 2019 at St. Philip Neri Parish, Msgr. O'Brien Hall in Alameda.
