Quarterly Newsleer CY 2017 1st QTR January-March Corporate Corner There are certain days at work that no one likes. Those are the days when the boss calls you into the conference room or break room, with all employees squeezed into every available space. Waing for you is an insurance representave or the HR director. He or she is there to lecture you on benefits, co-pays, and medical savings accounts, and as they drone on, eyes droop, the ambient room temperature rises, and everyone wishes they could just go back to their desks. But, these days are necessary. Employees need to know about revisions to the employee handbook, new insurance premiums and enrollment. Rather than make these meengs staid affairs, Systems Atlanta has a proud tradion known as “The Pig-Out.” These monthly gatherings started out as pure, unadulterated food worship. Everyone would contribute a few dollars and three employees would cook up a mess of taco salad, spaghe, or BBQ. Over the decades, these Pig-Out lunches have evolved into a showcase of favorite employee recipes. We’ve been lucky enough to have employees from all over the world who proudly share their secret family favorites. Our chili cook -offs have been full of fierce compeon and there was one hot sauce-tasng that nearly ended in a trip to the ER. The Systems Atlanta Pig-Out has become a way for our company to share fellowship during the lunch hour and we’ve found that it brings us closer together as employees and friends. Recently, we began combining our tradional Pig-Outs with Quarterly Lunch and Learns. Of course, we have to have that yearly meeng on health insurance and employee handbook revisions, but we throw in informave classes on how to eat beer during the work day, wills and estate planning, and rerement. But, it’s not all finances and food. We also asked a local paranormal group to come speak about their cases and how they invesgate ghosts. With spooky audio and video clips, everyone was on the edges of their seats. And the jerk chicken wasn’t bad, either! Following up to that was the Georgia Mutual UFO Network and their presentaon on how they go about invesgang local UFO sighngs. And the burritos helped everyone believe that the truth is out there! Everyone at Systems Atlanta looks forward to our monthly lunches, not just the food but also the engaging and fun topics cooked up by upper management. In the future, we’re hoping to give everyone a glimpse into workplace safety and team building. Corporate Corner

There are certain days at work that no one likes. Those are the days when the boss calls you into the conference room or break room, with all employees squeezed into every available space. Waiting for you is an insurance representative or the HR director.

Rather than make these meetings staid affairs, Systems Atlanta has a proud tradition known as “The Pig-Out.” These monthly gatherings started out as pure, unadulterated food worship. Everyone would contribute a few dollars and three employees would cook up a mess of taco salad, spaghetti, or BBQ. Over the decades, these Pig-Out lunches have evolved into a showcase of favorite employee recipes. We’ve been lucky enough to have employees from all over the world who proudly share their secret family favorites. Our chili cook-offs have been full of fierce competition and there was one hot sauce-tasting that nearly ended in a trip to the ER. The Systems Atlanta Pig-Out has become a way for our company to share fellowship during the lunch hour and we’ve found that it brings us closer together as employees and friends.

Recently, we began combining our traditional Pig-Outs with Quarterly Lunch and Learns. Of course, we have to have that yearly meeting on health insurance and employee handbook revisions, but we throw in informative classes on how to eat better during the work day, wills and estate planning, and retirement. But, it’s not all finances and food. We also asked a local paranormal group to come speak about their cases and how they investigate ghosts. With spooky audio and video clips, everyone was on the edges of their seats. And the jerk chicken wasn’t bad, either! Following up to that was the Georgia Mutual UFO Network and their presentation on how they go about investigating local UFO sightings.

Then a local chiropractor will offer his perspective on how we can take care of our backs during those long hours of sitting at the office.

Systems Atlanta is delighted to deliver to our customers the latest features and enhancements in the most recent IDS5TM Version 1.8 release. While there are

numerous improvements in this release, there are several noteworthy enough to share:

Notepad Edit in View: Notepad objects, and their imports, can now be configured to be editable in view mode. Now a notepad can be configured to simply double-click to begin editing, with no need to enter Data Edit first. Once in edit, a notepad will have Save and Abort controls directly over the typing area.

Pop-up: With this feature an object or group of objects can be set-up to immediately display user desired data by simply hovering over a section of an IDS5TM display. There are countless possible applications; such as, access to runway data, display of weather information for local airports, or any other quick reference information.

Quick Select Shared Item Lists: Often in IDS5TM multiple quick selects will have the same items to select from. Whether it be employee names, equipment status, or altitudes, these lists are used multiple times throughout the system. With shared item lists, you create the list once and apply it to any quick selects that use it. When the list needs to be updated, such as gaining or losing an employee, you need only update the shared item list and all the quick selects using it will reflect the change.

Quick Select Dropdown Selection: Quick select objects can now be configured to display a drop down menu when clicked. This allows end users to go directly to a specific item instead of having to cycle through all available choices.

For more information on IDS5TM Version 1.8. features or to learn about the newest IDS5TM Version 1.8 Database Administrator Refresher Course designed to help users harness these capabilities, please call us at 770-928-0240, or email us at [email protected].

“Crowdsourcing: the practice of obtaining needed services, ideas, or content by soliciting contributions from a large group of people and especially from the online community rather than from traditional employees or suppliers”

-Merriam-Webster.com 2017

Crowdsourcing is a relatively new term in the world these days. Seems like everyone is trying to use it in some way to further

their ideas and practices. Here at Systems Atlanta we embraced our own form of crowdsourcing some time ago. Using the input of

our customers and their real world experiences, we shape the future of our IDS program. If you are in the Army, you more than likely received a call from us this past month about potential new features for our next release of IDS5TM. The wide range of features went from simple to understand, like the ability to import Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), to much more complicated feature sets. After collecting the data, we were able to chart the user prioritization of potential features, from the ones most sites would use to the ones that were considered less critical to the user.

Each organization has its own unique mission, so it is imperative to get a holistic view to better accommodate our customers. As you would imagine, the results of our crowdsourcing revealed varied views on which proposed features would be of most value. In the near future we will use the data collected, our engineer’s expertise, and technical experience to determine the final set of features to be added to IDS5TM. We at Systems Atlanta believe that incorporating our customer’s perspective into the developmental process, ensures that our IDS5TM will continue to meet operational requirements today and into the future.

AAAS Hardware Refresh Systems Atlanta is pleased to announce the completion of the Army Airfield Automation System (AAAS) hardware refresh first round. As part of the AAAS Life Cycle Support (LCS) program, fifteen AAAS sites were provided with all new hardware including, faster computers, touch-screen monitors, and all new peripherals.

Systems Atlanta provided on-site turnkey installation of the new hardware for large and complex AAAS systems. At smaller AAAS locations, site personnel installed the equipment with Systems Atlanta technicians standing by to assist via telephone. Upon completion of the upgrade, AAAS users reported immediate and notable improvements in computer speed and display properties. The next round of hardware refreshes is scheduled for 2017, with the remaining sites anticipated for the following year. For more information, please contact Systems Atlanta support.

- Larry Calcoun, Director/Operations

A couple of years ago, Systems Atlanta started making in-house videos for our ‘die-hard fans’. These were intended to demonstrate IDS5TM capabilities, show new features available to our customers, and let

people know what we offered. We also released tutorials on how to utilize the system. After taking a short hiatus from producing these informative videos, we have decided to bring them back, and not for a limited time only! Our newest project, the Dynamic Airfield Status Map, is a quick run-through of how IDS5TM’s capabilities can be employed to show the real-time status of your airfield environment. So instead of a long written explanation, our in-house video will provide a more hands-on view of what IDS5TM can do! In less than two minutes, you can check it out on our website, or directly from our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNqPJ9zgjz4
