• Probuild was established in 1989 by Nicholas Buck and Michael Simmonds as a specialist construction company• Philip Buck joins the company in 1990• In 1994 Probuild forms a strategic joint venture with Renprop Real Estate to develop multiple residential units. A total of 6 750 units comprising 68 projects have been completed to date• The Probuild/Renprop alliance diversifies into the development of commercial and industrial projects. To date, 75 projects comprising 178 450m² have been completed• In 2002 Kobus van der Westhuizen joined the company • In 2007 the Renprop alliance was formalised into Space Developments with a distinctive corporate identity and trademark. • A new affordable housing venture called Urban Housing is formed during 2009 in an alliance between Probuild, Renprop, Vuwa and Old Mutual. Urban Housing, the marketing company will deliver more than 20 000 houses worth R7bn in the next 10 years.• In 2011 Probuild diversified into an additional divisional structure and Probuild Civils was inaugurated.

We are at the forefront of the construction of affordable and RDP housing projects. We deliver quality, freestanding homes ranging in area from about 40m² to 80m².
Since the year 2007, we have completed: • Over 5, 000 freestanding affordable homes, flats and RDP houses• At present we are building 11, 200 freestanding homes in Gauteng, South Gauteng, Northern Cape, North West Province, Free State and in the Eastern Cape

Our housing division has developed a unique, tailor-made construction tracking and quality assurance system that has been designed to ensure the following:• Stringent on-site quality control of every aspect through to the signing off of the finished product• The correct specification and correct quantities of materials for each individual house• Strict adherence to National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) and National Building regulations• Pre- and de-snagging of all houses
Strict adherence to these principles enables us to offer our principals and end-user clients a construction experience with a difference that includes:• Stringent controls, management disciplines and best practice systems• The follow up of strategically important information to ensure cost-effective and scheduled construction
The Civils Division was created in 2011 as a ‘best of breed’ business. We deliver projects within budget, on time and to the highest quality standards.

• Rectifying all latent defects on newly completed contracts• Providing a maintenance services on all completed contracts• Small works, including refurbishments, tenant installations, redecoration and renovations
Probuild’s commitment to deliver quality work on time and on budget requires an holistic approach to project delivery. Investment in wholly owned plant and equipment, retention and training of skilled operators and maintenance of plant is required to deliver on the Probuild promise.
To this end, Probuild offers a fleet of plant that includes:• Trucks ranging in payload from 5 to 20 tons• Excavators• Motor graders, skid steers, and TLBs• Water tankers• 5 to 20 ton rollers and compactors• Extensive range of small plant and equipment
