Dear Friends, Welcome back to the Coronado Playhouse for the final show of our 73rd season!Mamma Mia! debuted in 1999 and closed sixteen years later after 5,758 shows, making it the ninth longest running show in Broadway history! Set on a sunny Greek island paradise, this jukebox musical is a story of a young woman trying to find her birth father and ends up finding herself. Showcasing over 20 ABBA mega-hits composed by former band members Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, Mamma Mia has played in 50 countries on 6 continents and been adapted to a successful film and sequel. Our creative team is led by veteran director Jennie Gray Connard who will co-choreograph with the multi-talented Marc Caro. Kirk Valles oversees the vocals and band as the musical director and we are supported by our hard working producers

Chris Powell and Katy Skyrud. We’d like to thank all of our 2019 members, donors and season subscribers. The operations of the playhouse are critically dependent on financial support from our patrons and we are so grateful! Our 2020 season has something for everybody with two cabaret performances: Closer Than Ever and James Bond: The Musical as well as six mainstage productions including Matilda, Moon Over Buffalo, Anything Goes, Richard III, Catch Me if You Can and a final show that is so new and exciting that we have to wait to announce it! There is still time to become a season subscriber or a member ensuring that you won’t miss a thing next season! But for tonight, we invite you to sit back, relax and get ready to channel your inner Dancing Queen as we present Mamma Mia!Lenelle Wylie Board Member, Coronado Playhouse

Page 5: Coronado Playhouse’s 73rd Season: Adventure | Journey | Discovery · 2019-11-04 · Mamma Mia. After my first show as director/choreographer with Coronado Playhouse I told my BFF’s,

Dear CPH Patrons,I have been a fan of all the hits of ABBA since I was a little girl, there is just something so wonderful and bright and happy about their music and I can’t ever resist breaking into dance when the song Dancing Queen comes on (who can, really?) and so it was incredibly exciting to me when a musical came out in the late 90’s which was filled with all that wonderfully whimsical music. I first saw the show in Las Vegas in 2003 and it was just the most fun I had ever had at a musical. The audience was alight with energy and joy, and it was palpable. Every song was special and was presented with so much enthusiasm and love that I forgot that it wasn’t opening night for the company. After that production, I knew I wanted to someday be involved in a production of Mamma Mia. After my first show as director/choreographer with Coronado Playhouse I told my BFF’s, Barron Henzel

and Tom Fitzpatrick that whenever the rights became available, I wanted Mamma Mia. It was a long wait but here we are, and I couldn’t be happier. The entire company on this production have been an absolute dream to work with. We have such incredibly talented, dedicated and hard-working people involved with this show and I believe it shows on our stage. Everyone involved brought their A-game so that we could present to you something entertaining, funny, light-hearted and SPARKLY! I hope you all feel the joy we are bringing; we thank you for being here and to ABBA, thank you for the music!
