rolling into view.

In the Coronado, you’ll discover the most comfortable,

livable interior ever created. A large part of that is

because of the EzyRider seat. Let’s face it: the driver’s

seat is where you spend most of your time and the

EzyRider is made for maximum comfort with thicker

cushioning, improved seat suspension technology and

nearly unlimited seat adjustments.

The wrap-around dash makes things easier as well,

with easy-to-reach switches and levers, easy-to-read

gauges and a centrally mounted Driver Message Center.

The leather wrapped steering wheel is attractive

and comfortable to hold, plus it nicely complements

the Oregon Burl woodgrain accents you’ll find on the

dash and throughout the interior. All the cabinetry is

beautifully appointed in this attractive trim. The modular

cabinets are highly customizable to fit your specific

needs and are strategically placed for maximum

spaciousness and safe movement. Plus, all interior hard

trim is available in tan or gray, tastefully coordinated to

one of the five color choices offered in our Chaparral

interior (Saddle Tan, Range Red, Horizon Blue, Graystone

and Flint Black).

You’ll enjoy the quiet of the cab and sleeper area, too.

Advanced noise reduction technology in the Coronado

utilizes specially designed cab components and extra

insulation in the side walls and floor to make it one of

the quietest cabs available while you’re

driving or parked. You’ll be more

comfortable thanks to the HVAC

heating and cooling system.

Its temperature control and

regulation, along with fresh

air re-circulation, allows for

optimal comfort in either

the SleeperCab or driving

area. It also filters out dust and

other airborne particles for

It’s no coincidence that the Coronado looks tough and powerful.

That’s because it is. But it’s smart, too. Take the AirLiner™ rear suspension

(A), for instance. Its advanced, lightweight design provides improved

ride quality and greater payloads. And that goes for the leaf and a half

front leaf spring suspension (with shear pads) – and optional AirTek™

front air suspension – as well.

Cooling performance is maximized through a 1,500 square-inch aluminum

radiator (B) that can cool the largest Class 8 engines easily. Plus, the

flow-through bumper design aids cooling, keeping the temperature

down in the engine, even when the temperature is up outside.

The Coronado provides maximum maneuverability with a 50-degree wheel

cut (C), something you won’t find in most Class 8 long-nose conventionals.

Putting the power to the pavement is now easier than ever with the

optional SmartShift™ (D). SmartShift allows for hands-on-the-wheel

shifting and can synchronize engine and gear speeds for a clutchless shift.

The Equiflo® fuel system (E) is a great addition to the Coronado that

ensures an equal level of fuel in both tanks. It provides better mixing of

returned fuel from the engine and eliminates crossover lines and

bottom fittings which improves ground clearance.

s a f e t y For Freightliner, safety has always been a priority. That’s why the

Coronado has features like a large-size windshield (H), which gives

drivers greater visibility to more adequately view the road ahead

of them and around them, and an optional driver’s side air bag (I) that

provides added protection in the event of an accident. Long stroke brake

chambers enhance safety while on the road by adding up to a

1/2-inch reserve stroke to help reduce the effect of brake fade.We’ve also

added slip-resistant grab handles to more safely climb into the cab

or onto the back deckplate of the truck. A first aid kit and a fire

extinguisher are standard equipment to help you be prepared for

on-road emergencies. And to top it off, the Coronado meets or exceeds

the stringent European ECE R-29 and Swedish crash worthiness test

standards. It just might be the safest place on the road.

e a s e o f m a i n t e n a n c e Keeping you on the road is important, so we made the Coronado simple

to maintain. For instance, thanks to two strut bars, the long-nose hood (J)

tilts easily for access to the engine compartment for routine maintenance

and pre-trip inspections. All parts of the engine are easy to reach, and

see-through fluid reservoirs allow you to check and fill the coolant,

power steering and windshield washer fluid easily while standing on the

ground. The Blue Stripe coolant hoses have a longer life span than

standard hoses, so you don’t have to worry on long stretches of open

highway. Front and rear suspensions are lube free with long life rubber

bushings. And the self-adjusting clutch eliminates expensive and time

consuming adjustments. Headlamps are state-of-the-art using polymer

lenses and reflectors, with off-the-shelf long life halogen bulbs that

require no tools for replacement. Even access to the Power Distribution

Module (K) (an engineer’s fancy term for the fuse box) is easy.
