LOCATIONDumfries is the largest town in Dumfries & Galloway with a population of approximately 31,600. The town is located approximately 36 miles north west of Carlisle, 72 miles south west of Edinburgh and 76 miles south of Glasgow.

DESCRIPTIONCorbelly Hill Covenant is a substantial Grade B Listed property constructed in 1881 and comprising a sandstone built convent with a chapel. Originally built for The Nuns of Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Corbelly Hill Convent has had many uses since including: Maxwelltown Benedictine Convent Girl’s School; a film set for the 2002 drama film ‘The Magdalene Sisters’; a temporary sheriff court and a museum. More recently, the chapel has been used by The Lighthouse religious group.

The building has retained many of its original features including stained glass windows and cloister passageways running the full length of the building. During its previous use as Dumfries Sheriff Court, part of the property was upgraded with central heating and new wiring. The site is gated and fully secured.
