Minerals Processing Solutions Sulphide ore Sweden Customer: Boliden Mineral AB – Sweden Project type: Greenfield (Concentrator) / Brownfield (Paste plant). Expansion of ore production from current levels of 1.4 to 2.5 million tonnes per year with full production reached at the end of 2015. Plant: Feasibility Study of Concentrator Plant Process and Equipment Ore: Sulphide ore containing Zink, Lead, Copper, Gold & Silver Scope of supply: The FS was reported at end of 2010 and included complete document deliveries required for the FS design. Engineering scope was basically the new concentrator plant and all related new infrastructures and site services, tailing systems & further the required modifications of the existing paste plant. The initial FS engineering was to establish design criteria’s, flowsheets & mass balances and equipment list for equipment selection in cooperation with client. The later FS engineering included P&ID´s, load lists, and plant layouts as main documents and an overall 3D model, (Navis), of the above ground installation and site infrastructure. The FS also included the compilation of FS basis information from Boliden regarding: - existing tailings deposition dam - concentrate haulage and storage and its expansion - operative costs estimates for labor, power, - maintenance and consumables on basis of the existing old plant operation. Equipment & process: Process plant for an ore feed of 2,5 MTPA. Feed and conveying system from existing mine ore shaft to a new ore stockpile, equiped with reclaim tunnel with feeders extraction systems and conveyors, for ore feed into the AG mill in the process plant. Re-location and upgrade of existing (Metso) primary mills at Aitik plant, for Garpenberg converted with new drives into a AG mill (dia. 6,45 x 12,0m) & 1 mill (dia. 6,45 x 8,1m) one section shortened pebble mill RCS 70, 40, 20 & 5m³ cells RCS Unit cell 20m³ RCS Blowers 2/piece Continental VPA Zn: 1540-54 2 units VPA Pb: 1040-32 1unit VPA Pb/Cu 1540-24 Swing 1unit VPA Cu 1040-8/12 1unit Also including pumps, mixertanks, platforms & piping Benefits: - The main benefit with the FS is to establish early professional and trustful relation with the client, for to be kept at later basic/detail engineering and Project implementation with services to plant operation. - The FS also create a early design template that match Metso equipment range and configurations with related guarantees. - Garpenberg plant is a closely located (one hour drive) to the Metso Sala office.
