    This manual contains detailed instructions and notes on the operation and use of this machine. For your

    safety and benefit, read this manual carefully before using the machine. Keep this manual in a handy

    12. Main power indicator and Onindicator

    The main power indicator turns on whenyou turn on the main power. The Onin-dicator lights when the power is on.

    Important

    Do not turn off the main powerswitch while the Onindicator is

    turning on or is flashing. The harddisk may malfunction.

    Press to turn the power on (the Onindi-cator turns on). To turn the power off,press again (the Onindicator turns off).

    Basic Procedure

    Preparation

    When User Code Authentication isset, the screen for entering a usercode will be displayed. Enter youruser code using the number keys,and then press the {{{{#}}}}key. Foruser codes, see "Authentication In-formation", General Settings Guide.

    When Basic Authentication, Win-dows Authentication, or LDAPAuthentication is set, the authenti-cation screen will be displayed.Enter your login user name anduser password, and then press [Lo-gin]. See "When the Authentication

    To stop the machine during a multi-copy runPress the {{{{Clear/Stop}}}}key.

    Job Preset

    You can make settings for the nextcopy job while copying is in progress.

    If a long copy job is in progress andyou do not want to wait for it to fin-ish, you can use this function to makesettings for the next copy job in ad-

    vance. When the current copy job fin-i s h e s , t h e n e x t j o b b e g i n sautomatically.

    Copying from the Bypass Tray

    Use the bypass tray to copy onto spe-cial paper such as OHP transparen-cies, thick paper, thin paper, and copypaper that cannot be loaded in the pa-per trays.

    Preparation

    When copying from the bypasstray, select [1 Sided]for copying in[Dup./Combine/Series](for example[1 Sided][1 Sided].)

    Note

    The machine can automatically de-tect the following sizes as standardsize copy paper:

    Select the paper size when makinghorizontal copies.

    If you use non-standard size copypaper or special paper, you shouldinput its vertical and horizontal di-mensions directly. See p.17 Plac-ing custom size originals. Thesizes you can input are as follows:

    Adjust the density of each color us-ing the density of a chosen basiccolor.

    Directly specify the density of eachcolor using the number keys.

    Note

    Adjust the colors to be registeredsuch that the total density of yel-low, magenta, cyan, and black isunder 255%.

    When the total density of a regis-tered color is over 256%, it will be

    corrected to 255%. When copying with user colors,
