COLUMBIA COLLEGE CAREER & JOB PLACEMENT FALL 2019 Our students and graduates have accomplished quite a bit this semester. Over 75 career center appointments have been focused on career exploration, interview preparation, and finding work in the field of study. Below are some sucesss stories from our students and alumni: The career center has set up 3 paid internships for our students with the Tuolumne County Superior Court, MACT Health Board, and Carlson & Associates, CPAs. The goal is to build more internships with our employer partners, so please spread the word and have interested employer contact [email protected]. INTERNSHIP DEVELOPMENT Political Science major Hayden Viola (pictured left) is having a wonderful fall semester interning at the Tuolumne County Superior Court. As a court intern, Hayden drafts administrative and procedural documents for the court CEO and sits in on meetings and court cases. The exposure and knowledge Hayden is gaining will be invaluable as he works toward becoming a lawyer. Hayden is thankful to Thomas Johnson and the career center for letting him know about this “rare and incredible opportunity for a college student.” Faith Weatheral-Block recently started a position as a Peer Specialist for Tuolumne County Behavioral Health. Faith graduated from Columbia College in the spring of 2019 with her degree in sociology and is currently taking classes at CSU Stanislaus to get her BA in Sociology. This position is the perfect foot in the door for Faith, who plans to eventually get her master’s degree in social work to become a social worker. Faith is thankful for Jill Olson for her support and encouragement both when she was a student and after she graduated.
