Using a font color that does not contrast with thebackground color is hard to read (presentation)

Using color for decoration is distracting andannoying.

Using a different color for each point is unnecessary

Trying to be creative can also be bad

O (the colure is bad)

How much attention are you giving to this text?

How easy is this to read?

Be consistent

◦ More professional

Easier to read◦ Less distracting

Use theme colors , fonts, & backgrounds

Use the same background for all slides

11

Font color should contrast with background

◦ E.g.: dark font on a light background

Use color to reinforce structure

◦ E.g.: light blue title and dark blue text

Can use color to emphasize a point◦ But only use this occasionally

This page contains too many words for a presentation

slide. It is not written in point form, making itdifficult both for your audience to read and for thepresenter to continue speaking. It appears to have a lot

of information, but really the slide doesn’t say muchat all. The biggest problem is that almost all of you inthe room will read all the way to the end of thisparagraph before you pay any attention to anythingI’m saying. Don’t believe me? Well what did I just

say? This bad slide just wasted about 20 seconds of the presentation time, because it averted your attentionaway from me.

Show one point at a time:

◦ Helps audience to concentrate

◦ Prevents audience from reading ahead

◦ Helps you stay focused

or …

Show the whole slide at once, but pause long enoughfor the audience to read all of it
