Cheer ClinicThe Lobo Cheerleaders will be hosting their annual Cheer Clinic

on Saturday, October 27th, from 9 am - 12:30 pm at Langham Creek High School. All boys and girls ages 4 through high school are welcome to come take a picture with our mascot, get instruction on jumps, cheers, dance, and tumbling, enjoy a snack and take home a megaphone and certificate of completion!!

All participants are invited to perform on the field during the first half of the LCHS football game on Thursday, November 1st, at 7 pm!! Also take part in our exciting raffle ($5) for gift cards, cheer instructions and more!

Copper Corners Service Unit held Rally Nights in September at Birkes, Fiest and Lowery Elementary schools to recruit new leaders and form new troops. New leaders are taking training classes, and new troops are getting organized and planning their first meetings and activities. If you missed the Rally Nights, it is never too late to get involved in Girl Scouting. Contact Diane Massie at 281-550-9148 for more information.

Girl Scouting is open to all girls between the ages of 5 (must be in kindergarten) and 18 who are willing to live by the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Copper Corners Service Unit serves girls in the residence areas for Birkes, Fiest and Lowery Elementary schools, Aragon and Labay Middle schools, and the corresponding high schools. Home schooled and private school students are always welcome. Girls may join at any level, and no previous Scouting experience is required. Don’t forget that many of our most exciting opportunities are available to older girls, and that the Ambassador program is designed for older girls whose schedules or interests may not allow for participation in a troop.

Girl Scouts in the U.S.A. have been celebrating our 100th birthday this year with a variety of events and activities. Many of our girls and

their families attended theB.I.G. Event on September 29 .Visiting the booths and exhibit areas was a wonderful chance to see the different activities and opportunities available. If you were there, you might have seen the Green Starlettes dance and drill team perform, listened to musical performances by council choirs, and found out about the backpacking and equitation programs. There were a lot of other areas and interest groups to explore. Many of us also participated in the service projects by bringing donations for Cypress Cares (lip balm, playing cards and travel size packs of baby wipes) or for the Houston Humane Society (hand sanitizers, leashes, collars and towels).

It won’t be time to order Girl Scout cookies until January, but our Fall Product Sale began on September 14. There are 14 different kinds of candy and nut products to choose from, and they are all delicious! Whether your favorite snack is trail mix or chocolate covered pretzels, you will have a great selection to choose from. Ask a Girl Scout in your neighborhood for more information.

Congratulations to the Dance Off icers on their outstanding performance at officer camp over the summer! The girls received 3rd place overall and were awarded Best Home Routine for their Jazz dance. They also received special awards for Technique and Choreography.

The Bailadoras would like to welcome their new Assistant Director Teresa Sturm. Mrs. Sturm is a former Langham Creek Bailadora. She was previously Director of the Smith Starlettes, a middle school dance team that she started. She also has teaching experience at Cypress Academy of Dance, Dance Magic Productions and most recently Carol Ehler Dance School.

The ice cream social was enjoyed by all that attended. A HUGE thank you to Hilary Bracher and Suzie Lipps for their strong arms and smiles as they served every student their ice cream! The games afterwards were hilarious and energetic. “I never” and the statue game will forever be remembered, not to mention the fast and furious hula hoop relay, even after a full school day!

Texas Roadhouse gets our ‘shout out’ for hosting our carwash fundraiser September 8th. I believe the students and the cars received equal sudsing! It was alot of good, clean, fun with a purpose. We appreciate everyone that came out to support us. And a big thank you to the Brachers for lending their power washer, and all the other parents as well for your time and energy.

October 16th will be our Fall Concert. Our voices will be lifted in the autumn air in our school auditorium at 7pm. Won’t you join us for an evening of listening pleasure? We would love to sing for you!

October 23rd will be our Barbeque Dinner Theatre and silent auction.

This will be an evening of delicious food and delightful sounds as we are entertained by not only our choir, but a few invited choirs in our district. If you own a business or have a product you would like to add to our silent auction, we would love to add your donation to our auction. Harris County Public Library

FOOD DRIVE The Harris County Public Library Fairbanks Branch will hold a food

drive from October 10-20 to benefit the food pantry at Cypress Assistance Ministries. The library will be accepting donations of canned foods, dry foods, infant diapers (all sizes), baby wipes, shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper, and paper towels. Please drop off donations in the designated box inside the library, when the library is open. Their hours are Monday 1 pm-9 pm; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 10 am-6 pm; Friday, 1 pm-6 pm; and Saturday, 10 am-5 pm. The library is located at 7122 N. Gessner (at Little York).
