PRESS RELEASE New festival celebrates the cocktail, the art of making it and the joy of drinking it Enjoy cocktails mixed by the best bartenders and mixologists in the world, taste the latest spirits from the best producers in the business and learn how to mix the perfect cocktail. This is some of what’s in the shaker when Denmark’s first spirits and cocktail festival this February welcomes spirits lovers from all over the world to two unique days of celebrating the cocktail. London has one, New York has one, Berlin has one, and now Copenhagen is joining the club. On 26 and 27 February, Denmark’s very first spirits and cocktail festival, ‘Copenhagen Spirits and Cocktails’, takes place, and it promises to be a spectacular event consisting of one part trade show, one part conference and one part cocktail party. The festival is aimed at people of both sides of the bar counter " the professional bar staff behind it and the happy guests in front who will be able to experience some of the world’s top bartenders in action at the historical venue of Moltkes Palæ, Copenhagen. Here, the professional bartenders will be passing on their experiences with shakers, spirits and mixers as well as offering a taste of their extraordinary skills. Following the cocktail culture’s current renaissance, things are also stirring in the spirits business. New innovative types of spirits are being introduced, while old and almost forgotten brands are reappearing. That is why the festival, apart from seminars and lectures, also offers a wealth of stands where you can treat your palate to the latest news and old classics from the world’s leading spirits producers. Also, a series of special cocktail events will take place at restaurants and cocktail bars throughout Copenhagen. In other words, no one will be left in doubt that Denmark’s first spirits and cocktail festival has hit the town. Financial Times: Copenhagen enjoying a golden age of cocktails Just as Danish restaurants and top chefs are making their mark internationally, Danish cocktail bars are gaining a strong foothold in the international world of cocktails. For example, several foreign publications have recently praised Danish bartenders and the Danish cocktail wave. This summer, an article in the Financial Times stated that Copenhagen is currently experiencing a true golden age of cocktails. The article even compared the achievements of the Danish cocktail bars with that of Noma and the way in which this restaurant has cemented Copenhagen’s position as a culinary hotspot. Today, working in a bar is a lot like working in the finest Michelin"starred restaurants. Spirits are carefully selected, syrups are made from scratch, juices are squeezed by hand and experiments are carried out to create the best season"based taste combinations.
