Definition : A conjunction placed between words , phrases , clauses or
Sentences of equal rank.
These conjunctions are seven very common words.
Continuous … They are very small made up of three or fewer letters. E.g ,
And , But , Yet , For , So , Or , Nor .
When to use each coordinating conjunctions:
Reason
To communicate addition “ And ’’.
To communicate contrast “ Yet, But ’’.
To communicate a result/effect “ So ’’.
To communicate a reason/cause “For’’.
To communicate a choice “ Or ’’.
To communicate a Negative choice
“ Nor ’’. Use them between two
independent clauses.
Continuous … A Coordinating conjunctions are use in words , phrases , and independent clauses.
Examples in sentences :
He only wear striped ties and polka dotted bow ties.(And joins two words.)
The shoes were not blue nor leather. ( Nor joins two phrases.)
It was not a custom party , yet
many came dressed as literary villains. ( Yet joins two independent clauses .)
I like tea and coffee. ( And joins two words.)
