PROCEDURE FOR THE APPLICATION

STANDARD SET

EXECUTION PLUGS’ HOUSING1) PERFORM HOLE WITH DRILL (the diameter of the drill has to correspond to the mark of the plug;

example: for the plug TR-8 use drill Ø8). SEE PICTURE 1.The diameter obtained by the drill can also be increased of 0,2-0,3 millimetres.

2) PERFORM BLADE WITH A SUITABLE REAMER. SEE PICTURE 2.In the operation n° 2 the hole has to be calibrated with a suitable reamer to Ø drill+0,5(example: the hole Ø8 will be brought up to Ø8,5).N.B.: the cutting speed of this operation will change according to the type of machined steel and will be equal to theone used for any other reamer in stainless steel.

3) PERFORM CHECK CANAL WITH SUITABLE TOOL (the suggested speed is 400/600 rpm, according tothe type of machined steel and to the diameter of the hole). SEE PICTURE 3

SOME ADVICE FOR THE CORRECT USE OF ABOVE MENTIONED TOOLa) Before beginning the operation put a drop of oil on the piece by the reamer (PICTURE 2) to encourage

the sliding of the centering bush of the tool.b) The descent in vertical of the tool has to be slow (as adopted when a centre drill is used). Consider however that

such a tool works only in the last millimetre of the descent.c) When the two elements of the tool separated by the spring (visible) touch each other, the operation is completed.

Now neither make further pressure on the tool nor stopping in such a position more than a few seconds is notadvisable (so to avoid the heating of the centering bush that rubs on the piece).

d) The above mentioned advice, related to the pressure that has to be applied on the tool, are obviously usable by theworker only in case of operation on a drill or also on a miller, only if provided by a mobile chuck (type drill) so to havethe sensitivity of the practiced pressure.In case of performing the above mentioned operation on a machine with fixed head or on a machining centre, it’snecessary to use the tool with the pressure compensator (provided on request).

SET “F”

EXECUTION PLUGS’ HOUSING

1) PERFORM THE HOLE WITH PERFORATIONS’ DRILL (the diameter of the drill has to correspond to the mark of theplug; for example: for the plug type TR-8F use drill Ø8. SEE PICTURE 1.

2) PERFORM FLARING. SEE PICTURE 2.

3) PERFORM CHECK CANAL WITH SUITABLE TOOL (the suggested speed is 400/600 rpm, according to the type ofmachined steel and to the diameter of the hole). SEE PICTURE 3.

PROCEDURE FOR THE APPLICATION OF THE INNER PLUGS TRI

PLUGS ASSEMBLY

1) Assemble the plug “A” around two hexagons “B” verifying that it’s well inserted.2) Holding the handle “E” tight, screw the handle “F”, blocking it with a light pressure.3) Verify that the plug is hooked to the rod.4) Insert the rod in the hole determining the position with the ring nut “C”.5) Holding the handle “D” tight, rotate the handle “E” counter-clockwise until it blocks .6) Verify that the plug is blocked in the hole, pushing the rod forwards and backwards.7) Holding the handle “E” tight, unscrew the handle “F” (1 or 2 turns are enough).8) Unthread the rod preferably by the handle “D”.

PLUGS DISASSEMBLY

1) Insert the rod in the hole and, slightly rotating the handle “D” and “E”, practice a light pressureon the plug until the two hexagons “B” have entered in their seats.(The operation has happened when the handle “D” and “E” don’t rotate anymore)

2) Holding the handle “E” tight, screw the handle “F” blocking it with a light pressure and verifythat the plug is hooked, pulling the rod towards outside.

3) Holding the handle “D” tight, unblock the handle “E” clockwise.4) Unthread the rod with the plug.

INSTRUCTION FOR APPLICATION IN DEPTH

NOTE

1) In case of necessity to apply some elements in depth (as in the diagramabove) and it is desired to execute the check canal using the appropriatetool, carry out the undercut ØT1 with the measures indicated in table.

2) The angle ß (front inclination of the drill) should vary from aminimum of 0° to a maximum of 45°.

3) During the execution of a seat with double diameter (as in the diagramabove), the depth of the Ø A must be minimum 2 mm longer than thedimension «L2» of the bubbles.

POSITIONING

In order to obtain a correct circulationof the coolant, position the alignment markS that you can see on the bubble asindicated in the diagram.

POSITIONING OF THE BAFFLES RL / RLS

APPLICATION OF BAFFLES RL - RLS

Considering that the baffles with Ø bigger than 14mm are available only in the set F andif it couldn’t be possible to perform the hole with perforations' drill, it is advisable to applythe baffle set F with a width B lower than the major diameter and to proceed as in theexample.

In order to obtain a correct circulation of the coolant, position the alignmentmarks S that you can find on the baffle as indicated in the diagram.

EXAMPLE OF APPLICATION RL-16Fp (B=15,5mm)

1- perform hole with drill Ø15,5;2- perform blade with a reamer Ø16 for a depth of L1+2mm;3- to go on with the procedure for the application of the item set F.

APPLICATION OF BAFFLES RLA

The standard type COD. RLA is inserted in the holewithout additional machining and the double springallows the locking inside the same hole.

APPLICATION OF BAFFLES RLA-SM

REALIZATION OF THE SEAT FOR THE BAFFLES RLA-SM

1) Insert the tool in a normal spindle for drill or ofwhich ever type.

2) Insert a hinge Ø 6 mm on the hole over tool andorientate the insert.

3) Centre the hole to machine until the insert rests on thepiece.

4) To make the machining, press until the tool UTB restson the piece, then to return.

NB :IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE PRESSUREEXERCISED OVER TOOL IS CARRIED OUTIN THE ABOVE DESCRIBED WAY AND NOTUSING A HAMMER OR SUCHLIKE.

The type without spring COD. RLA-SM baffle is inserted in the holeafter having realized, with the appropriate tool, a seat in which willbe inserted the head part of the baffle.The advantage in this application is the perfect positioning of thebaffle, in case of spin or in depth, and also in the smaller costof the component, due to the lack of the double spring.

EXECUTION PLUGS’ HOUSING:Plastic plugs are perfectly interchangeable with the ones made in steel, so you can use theinstruction at page 1.02.N.B.:For the application of the plastic plugs it is absolutely necessary to realize the check canal.

PLUGS ASSEMBLY

1) IT IS ADVISABLE TO INSERT THE PIECE TO BE ASSEMBLED ON THE TWO KEYS, TAKING CARE TO PUSHTHE KEY “A” TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT.

TECHNICAL NOTES

In the ejection phase the BALZI air valve introduces air inthe cavity of the mould, first in limited quantitythrough the space between the body of the valveand the convex poppet, than in big quantity through theproper bleeds.

In the closure phase of the mould, in case of valvejamming or solenoid valve malfunction, the push of thematrix guarantee the first closing of the convex poppet thatmoves in anti-filling position.

During the injection phase the front flow of the plasticmaterial, getting between the convex poppet and thematrix, brings the convex poppet into the right position.

One of the most recurring and onerous problems with the air valves is the jamming and thesubsequent filling of them and of their air feeding holes. This problems generate long productiondowntime and costs for the restoration of the mould. With the BALZI air valve the filling problemis definitively excluded and could be necessary only a routine maintenance to guarantee the bestefficiency of the valve.

GRINDABLE SURFACES

The assembled insert final size amounts to thesummation of several dimensions subjected totolerance, thanks to the use of lamellar elements in thefinal set up. In order to ensure the correct placing intothe mould cavity, we recommend to measureempirically the size of the insert and, if required, tomodify it by grinding both inner sides of the centralinsert.

The seat edges radius should not exceed 2.5mm, in order to1.avoid intrusions with the gas vent’s lock pins.

2. The fixing screws also work as ejecting devices.

Ermanno Balzi’s modular system geometry grants gas evacuationthrough a full communicating system where gasses are conveyedtowards one only exit aperture. Such exit hole can always be placed inthe best available position, ensuring maximum flexibility(see examples).

THE C.D.C. TEST STATION WAS DESIGNED TO REMOVE CALCAREOUS DEPOSITS FROM

MOULD’S CONDITIONING CIRCUIT.

DURING THE MOULDING PROCESS THIS KIND OF DEPOSITS, SETTLED, OBSTRUCT THE

WATER FLOW LIMITING THE COOLING EFFICACY.

THE C.D.C. TEST STATION IS PROVIDED WITH TWO TANKS, ONE CONTAINING SOLVENT

LIQUID THE OTHER CONTAINING THE PASSIVATING LIQUID.

THE FIRST LIQUID DIS-SCALES THE CALCAREOUS DEPOSIT, WHILE THE LATTER RE-

STRAINS

THE CORROSIVE ACTION OF THE SOLVENT OCCASIONALLY LEFT IN THE CIRCUIT.

THE C.D.C. IS COMPLETELY PNEUMATIC AND EQUIPPED WITH A COOLING CIRCUIT

AUTOMATIC EMPTYING DEVICE.
