• Hydrolysis of organic material at high temperature and pressure

• Makes nutrients more readily available for utilization in anaerobic digestion • Improves gas production

• Easier to mix • Increase digester loading rates

Thermal Hydrolysis

• Increases nutrient load in liquid stream• Increased load back to mainstream

• High temperature and pressure create byproducts that are inhibitory to bacteria

Converting MBBR to IFAS• MBBR = Moving Bed Bioreactor• Use of polyethylene media to foster and house biofilm for wastewater treatment

• IFAS = Integrated Fixed Film Activated Sludge• Use of return activated sludge (RAS) to create an environment of both biofilm and suspended biomass for wastewater treatment
