Mixed-ability low beginner- to high-beginner students are taughtlanguage for personal introductions using role-play: script (lexis

input, speaking, exhibition of comprehension).

EXPANSION

Students “personalize” new language with pairwork composition of 

original dialogue for personal introductions. Dialogues areperformed before classmates (speaking/listening for 

comprehension, information exchange practice).

This marks the beginning of focused CONVERSATION ACTIVITY.

These Conversation Assessments of “Prep Year” Communication Skills

Students (Levels I and II) was inserted into the curriculum by this _._._.instructor from Summer, 2011. “Native Speakers” and/or fluent “English

speakers” (volunteering _._._. English Instructors) act as interlocutors:

guiding and eliciting English for conversation on selected topics.

This instructor developed these assessments as: exhibition of skills

consolidation; and , examination of students’ listening and speakingskills. They require application of “critical thinking”:  as students are

having “first contact” with interlocutors -- whose phraseology and style(s) of 

speaking are completely new to them.
