The first shots are of the institutions that helped produce the film, these institutions can be specifically affiliated with certain genre’s and type of films they produce, so these can attract an audience.

Page 3: Conventions of teasers

These extreme long shots/establishing shots immediately show the audience the types of setting that will be used in the film, also they very beautiful scenery’s so can draw in audience that prefer natural settings. The little man shown in the 4th shot can intrigue the audience as they will want to find out who that is.

The grainy and blue colour to shot 5 can confuse audience as it does not fit into teaser, however the voiceover suggests it is what the main character is hunting. This answer some of the question to audience but also keeps mystery/engima. The next shot is of the main character this editing is a suggestion of the relationship the animal and the main character have. They also use a close up so audiences can recognize famous the actor.

First titles of the time appear in the 7th shot, by adding this title it can interest audiences or people who have heard about ‘Animal Kingdom’, the use of gold on a black background make sure audience can see the title. The mid-shot of the two characters shows them but also the beautiful scenery and gives clues to where the ‘Hunter’ is going to ‘hunt’.

More long shots of natural scenery, again reinforces the setting. This shot can also have connotations of danger and mystery with its tall trees, the general colours of the shot is also dark and grey suggesting danger of some type. The main character name is shown in the titles, a famous actor so can attract audiences.

The mid shot allows the audience to see close up this time the setting, the use of rain and the colours used show it is quite dark film and help convey the genre. The over the shoulder shot of main character help audience relate/get to know main character more but also builds enigma as the conversation is not clear to the audience.

The close-up of the gun shows the audience that obviously will be guns used in film but also helps to convey the genre, the next shot being the main character obviously suggest that he will be using guns heavily in film.

More famous actors names throughout teaser to again interest audiences, furthermore the next shot being ‘Sam Neill’ helps the audience put ‘a face to a name’.

More natural scenery drums into audience the setting also shows a variety of natural scenery can have scary/dramatic connotations. The close up of the main character show his dramatic expressions can interest the audience, why he acting like that?

Similar to ‘Sam Neill’ shots, the famous actress is shown and her face immediately shown after to help ‘jog’ audiences memories, also the shot shows the main character suggests relationship. The dialogue of this character also adds more enigma.

Natural scenery is obviously a recurring feature in teaser, is obviously a huge part of film. The mid/long shot of main character holding gun in a very dark/grey setting adds mystery and supports genre of film

Finally the title of film is shown, this helps tie all the other shots of teaser and the name helps audience get a general idea of what film is going to be about, the shot after again shows main character obviously very important in attracting audiences and very beautiful scenery this time however the colours used seem warmer to the other scenery shots.

The use of ‘Coming soon’ is probably simply due to the producers not having a release date but this also helps create build up and interest the audience to know when it is going to be released. The shot after with the natural scenery again reinforce setting and genre to audience and gives social media names, to get audiences more and more interest in film.
