What is a Digipak?

o A digipak is a style of packaging for CD’s, they are not as common as your usual plastic CD case and are mainly used for limited editions singles and greatest hits style albums.

o They are usually made of carboard with a plastic holder on the inside for the CD/s. Digipaks commonly contain more than one CD.

Design

o The digipak will usually have a standard cover that will appear on all of their merchandising.

o It is usually a photo of the artist, but can sometimes be an artist shot of something relevant to the album.

o On the back there is the track list and the barcode.

o On the inside, the cardboard will be printed with shots of the artist or relevant material.

o It will usually be fairly subtle without bright colours or in black and white as to not draw focus as the cd will be on top of it.

o There will be a colour scheme and a theme to the design which will depend on the artists style and audience.
