2. Acce88ion shall be effected by the deposit of an instrument of accewon with the Secre­tary.General of the United Nations.

ARTICLE 6

1. The present Convention shall come into for« on the ninetieth day following the date of deposit of the sixth instrument of ratifica­tion or aeceuion.

2. For each State ratifying or acceding to the Convention after the deposit of the sixth instrument of ratification or accession, the Convention shall enter into force on the nine­tieth day after deposit by such State of its in­strument of ratification or aceeasion.

ARTICLE 7

1. The present Convention shall apply to all non-self-governing, trust. colonial and other non-metropolitan territories for the interna· tional relations of which any Contr:acting State is respomible; the Contracting State concerned shall, subject to the provilioDll of paragraph 2 of the present article. at the time of 8igna· lUre, ratification or accession, declare the non· metropolitan territory or territories to which the Com-enlion shall apply ipso facto u a result of such signature, ratification or acceWon.

2. In any case in which, for the purpose of nationality, a non.metropolitan territory is not treated as one with the metropolitan territory, or in any eaee in which the previous consent of a non.metropolitan territory ia required by the eoostitutionallaws or practices of the Con­tracting Slate or of the non.metropolitan terri· tory for the application of the Convention to that territory, that Contracting State shall en­deavour to secure the needed consent of the non.metropolitan territory within the period of twelve months from the date of signature of the Convention hy that Contracting State. and when mch consent has been obtained the Con· tracting State shall notify the Secretary·Gen­eral of the United Nations. The preaent Con .

vention ahan apply to the territory or terri­tories named in such notification from the date of ita receipt by the Secretary-General.

3. After the expiry of the twelve.month period mentioned in paragraph 2 of the present article, the Contracting States concerned ahall inform the Secretary-General of the results of the consultations with those non.metropolitan territories for whose international relations they are responsible and whose consent to the application of the present Convention may have been withheld.

ARTlCLE 8

1. At the time of signature, ratification or acceuion. any State may make reservations to any article of the present Convention other than articles 1 and 2.

2. If any State makea a reaervation in ac­cordance with paragraph 1 of the present arti· cle, the Convention. with the exception of those provisions to which the reservation relate., shall have effect as between the reserving State and the other Parties. The Secretary-General of the United Nations shall communicate the text of the reservation to all States which are or may become Parties to the Convention. Any State Party to the Convention or which there­after becomes a Party may notify the Secre. tary.General that it does not agree to con­sider itself bound by the Convention with reo spect to the State making the reservation. This notitication must be made. in the case of a State already a Party, within ninety days from the date of the communication by the Seerf" tary-General; and, in the case of a State mho sequently becoming a Party, within ninety days from the date when the instrument of rati­fication or accession is deposited. In the event that lIuch a notification is made, the Conven. tion shall not be deemed to be in effect all be. tween the State making the notification and the State making the reservation.

ARTICLE 6

1. La prcscnte Convention entrera ell vi­

2. Pour <;hacun des Etats qui ratifieront la Convention ou y adhereront aprcs Ie depot du sixicme instrument de ratification ou d'adhe·· sion, la Convention entrera en vigueur Ie quatre.vingt.dixieme jour qui. sui\'i'a la date du depot par cef Etat de son instrument dl' ratification ou d'adhesion.

ARTICLE 7

1. La presente Convention s'appliquera a tousles territoires non autonomes., sous tutelle, coloniaux et autres terri tokes non metropo]i. tains dont un Etat contractant assure les rela­tions internationales; I'Etat contractant inh~· resse dena, SOUl; resen'e des dispositions du paragraphe 2 du present article, au moment de la signature, de la ratification ou de l'adhesion, declarer Ie territoire ou les territoires non me­lropolitains auxquels la presente Convention a'appliquera ipso facto a la suite de cette signa­ture, ratification ou adhesion.

2. Si, en matiere de nationalite. un terri­toire non metropolitain n'est pas considere conune formant un tout avec Ie territoire rue­tropolitain. ou si Ie consentement prealable d'un territoire non metropolitain est neces­saire, cn vertu des lois ou pratiques constitu­tionnelles de l'Etat contractant ou du territoire. non metropolitain, pour que la Convention s'applique it ce terri.toire, ledit Etat contractant de\:ra s'eHorcer d'obtenir, dans Ie delsi de douze mois a compter de la date a laquelle il aura sigue la Convention, ie consentement ne· ce88am du territoire non metropolitain, e~ loraque ce eonsentement aura ett> obtenu, l'Etal

A l'expiration du delai de douu moia mentionne au paragraphe 2 du present article. les Etats contractants interesses infornteront Ie Secrctaire general des resultats des consulta. tions avec les territoires non metropolitains dont ils assurent les relations internationales et dont Ie consentement pour l'application de la Jll"cRellte Convention n'aurait pas ete donne.

ARTICLE 8

], Au moment de la signature, de la ratifiea­lion ou de l'adhesioll, tout Etat peut faire des reserves aux articles de la presente Convention, autres que I'article premier et l'article 2.

2. Les reserves formulees cOl1formement au paragraphe 1 du present article n'affecteront pas Ie caractere obligatoire de la Convention entre rEtat qui aura fait les reserves et les autres Etats parties, a l'exception de la disposi­tion ou des dispositions ayant fait I'objet des reserves. Le Seeretaire general de I'Organisa­tion del'! Nations Unies eommuniquera Ie texte de ce.s reserves a lous les Etats qui sont ou qui peuvent devenir parties a la presente Conven­tion. Chaque Etat partie a la Convention ou qui devient partie it la Convention pourra noti· fier au Secretaire general qu'il n'entend pas se considerer comme lie par Ia Convention a regard de I'Etat qui a fait des resen'es. Cette notification devra etre Caite dans les quatre. vingt-dix jours a compter de Ia communication du Secretaire general, en ce qui concerne les Etats parti.es a la Convention, et it compter du jour du depot de l'instrument de ratification ou d'adhesion, en ce qui concerne les Etats qui deviennent ulterieurement parties a la Con­vention, Au cas ou nne teIle notification aura ete faite, la Convention ne sera pas applicable

1. Los Estados contrataDtes convienen en que una mujer extranjera casada con uno de sua nacionales podra adquirir. ai 10 solicita,la nacionalidad del mando, mediante un procc· dimiento especial de naturalizaci6n privile­giada, con 8lljeci6n a laa limitacionea que pue­dan imponene por razones de aeguridad y de mteres pUblico.

2. Loe Eetados contrataDtee convienen en que la preaente Convenci6n no podr' interpre­lane en el aentido de que afecte a la legia1aci6n o la prlictica judicial que permitan a la mujer extran jera de uno de aDS nacionalea adquirir de pleno derecho, ai 10 aolicita, la nacionalidad del marido.

La preaente Convencl6n queda abierta a la firma y a 1a ratiGcaci6n de cualquier Eatado Miembro de las Nacionea Unidaa y de cualquier olro E.tado que tea 0 Degue a eer miembro de algnn OI'ganismo eapecializado de Ia8 Nacioll88 Unidas, 0 que aea 0 llegue. ler parte euel Eeta· toto de la Corte Internacional de Jueticia, 0 de eualqnier olro Eatado al que la Aaamhlea Gene­ral de laa Nacionea Unidaa hay. dirigido una invitaci6n al electo.

2. La adhesion St~ efectuaril depositando un instrumento de adlwsion en puder del :-it-en'­lario General de las Naciones Unidas.

ARTicULO 6

1. La presente Convcncion entraril en \ igor noventa dias despucs de la (eella en qlle 51' haya dcpositado el 5exto instrumento de ratificacion o de adhesion.

2. Para cada UIIO de los ESlados <Iut' ratifi­quell la Conwncion 0 se adhierail a ella despue~ de depositado el sexto instruml:'nto de ralitit'a' cion 0 de adhesit:in, la COIll'enci6n entrara t'll vigor noventa dias dcspues de la fceha en que cae Estado haya depositatlo el respecth'o jll~lru· mento de ratificacion 0 de adhesion.

ARTICULO 7

1. La presente Convencion se aplicara. a tooos los territorios no autonomos, en fideico· muo. coloniales y olros territorios no metro· politanos de cuyas relaciones internacionales este encargado cualquier Estado contratante: el Estado contratante interesado deher.i.. con 8ujecion a las disposiciones del panafo 2 del presente articulo, declarar en el momento de la firma, rati6cacion 0 adhesion, a que territorio no metropolitano 0 a que otros territorios se aplicara ipso facto la Convencion en razon de tal firma, ratificacion 0 adhesion,

2. En los casos en que. para los efectos de la nacionalidad, un territorio no metropolitano no sea considerado parte integrante del terri· torio metropolitano, 0 en los casos en que se requiera el previo consentimiento de un terri· torio no metropolitano en virtud de las leyes o practicas constitucionales del Estado conlra­tante 0 del territorio no metropolitano para que la Convencion se aplique a dicho territorio, aquel Estado contratante tratara de lograr el consentimiento necesario del territorio no metropolitano denlro de un lapso de doce me&es a parti.r de la feella de la firma de la CoD­venci6n por eee Estado contratante. y cuando

sc haya logrado tal consentimiento el Estado rontratante 10 ootificara al Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas. La preseote Conven· CiOll se aplicara al territorio 0 territorios men· cillnados en tal notificacion a parlir de la fecha: tie su recept'ion por el Secretario General.

3. Despues de la expiracion del lapso de doce meses mellcionado en el parra(o 2 del pre. sente articulo. los F..l!tados contratantes intere· sados infoflllaran al Secretario General sobre los resultados de las consultas celebradas con lllJuelIos territorios no metropolitanos de cuyas rdadones internacionales esten eocargados y cuyo cousentimiento }Jara la aplicacion de la prescote Couvencion haya quedado pendiente.

ARTicuLO 8

1. En el momento de la 6.nna, de Ia rati6.· cacilm 0 de la adhesion. todo Estado podra for­mular reservas a cualquier articulo de Ia pre· seale Convencion, con excepcion de los arti· culos 1 y 2.

2. Toda reserva formulada confonne at parrafo 1 del presente articulo no afectari el caracter obli.gatorio de la Convenci6n entre el Estado que haya hecho la reserva y los demas Estados !'artes, con excepcion de 1a disposicion o las disposiciones que hayan sido objeto de la reserva. EI Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas comunicara el texto de esa reserva a todoslos Estados que sean 0 lleguen a ser partes en la presente Convencion. Todo EBtado parte en la Convencion 0 que Uegue a ser parte en la misma podra noti6car al Secretario General que no eatli di!>puesto a considerarse obligado por la Convencion con respecto al Estado que haya formulado la reserva. Esta ootificacion debera hacet'se, en 10 que concierne a los Esta­dos que ya sean partes en la Convenci6n. den· tro de los noventa dias signientes a la feeba de la comunicacion del Secretario General. y. en 10 que concierne a los EstadoB que ulterior· mente Ileguen a ser partes en la Convenci6n, dentro de los noventa dias siguientes a la feeha
