Disaster Recovery Business Continuity

Though Most Government Agencies and almost all large businesses have established disaster recovery and business continuity plans, most of them do NOT :– Perform regular reviews of the plans

– Have comprehensive plans– Have not tested the plans- No Test, Training, & Exercise (TTE Program

Disaster Recovery Business Continuity

Do the plans provide:

-Adequate capabilities for execution of essential functions

-The ability to restore services and support Continuity of Government or Business Continuity?

-Can any corporation survive after a disaster destroys brick and mortar; or the loss of technology even for a short time.

Can result in a loss of confidence by the consumer

Not Rocket Science

On two occasions after 9-11 Federal employees were running and screaming from Federal buildings because those

Departments had no COOP Plan.(Aircraft penetrating ADIZ/FRZ)

The only way to prevent chaos when disaster strikes is with a carefully crafted continuity of operations plan — and you better not have it locked away in a file cabinet

when it’s needed!

Bottom Line

I am not Chicken Little and the sky is not falling

Life has existential risk

It doesn’t always happen to the other guy

No matter where you live or where your business is located you live with risk

It is good business to evaluate risk and consider it any time your making decisions about how you spend your resources
