CLINIC PURPOSE & TARGET AUDIENCE This clinic is designed to provide current, science-based information to professionals with an interest in strength and conditioning or athletic enhancement and will feature national, regional and local speakers recognized in the area of sports performance. The target audience includes strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, exercise physiologists, personal trainers, coaches, physical education teachers and other professionals working with active populations.

FACULTYPAT DAVIDSON, PhDSelf-Employed, Author, Lecturer, Strength and Conditioning Coach, Hoboken, NJ

Pat is an independent strength and conditioning coach, consultant, author,

and lecturer. He is the author of MASS and MASS 2, and is currently writing the soon to be released book, Rethinking the Big Patterns. Pat is the former Director of Training Methodology and Continuing Education for Peak Performance, and former Professor of Exercise Science at Springfield College and Brooklyn College. Pat is interested in all realms of human organism improvement and is relentless in pursuing education.

RUSS FLATEN, EdD, CMPC-AASPCertified Mental Performance Consultant, Premier Sports Psychology, Edina, MN

Russ is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant through the Association

for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). As a Mental Performance Consultant Russ has the opportunity to work with a variety of populations within the sports and military communities. In the sports community, Russ works with youth athletes, college athletes, coaches and administrators. In the military community, Russ works with leadership and command teams, injured-ill-wounded transitions, pre/post deployment and intelligence. Currently, Russ is working on publications on behavior change and motivation, teaches graduate courses in sport psychology, and conducts group-training seminars for Premier Sport Psychology.

DAN JOHN, MA, MRE, MRKC Performance Consultant, Speaker, Writer, Author, and Senior Lecturer, Murray, Utah

Dan has spent his life with one foot in the world of lifting and throwing, and

the other foot in academia. As an All-American discus thrower, Dan competed at the highest levels of Olympic Lifting, Highland Games and the Weight Pentathlon, an event in which he holds the American record. Dan spends his work-life blending weekly workshops and lectures with full-time writing. He is an online religious studies instructor for Columbia College of Missouri. As a Fulbright Scholar, he toured the Middle East exploring the foundations of religious education systems. Dan is a Senior Lecturer for St. Mary’s University, Twickenham, London. He has authored and co-authored several books.

JASON MILLER, MS, CSCSDirector of Athletic Performance - Olympic Sports, North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND

Jason Miller is in his fifteenth year with the North Dakota State

University (NDSU) athletic department and his eighth as the Director of Athletic Performance for Olympic Sports. He is directly responsible for designing and implementing year-round strength and conditioning programs of student-athletes in women’s volleyball, men’s basketball and baseball. Prior to his arrival at NDSU, he was the head strength and conditioning coach at Long Beach State from 2002-05 and a graduate assistant at Northern Michigan and the U.S. Olympic Education Center from 2000-02. Miller graduated from Minot State in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree in Corporate Fitness and earned a Master’s degree in Exercise Science from Northern Michigan in 2002.

BOO SCHEXNAYDER, MEdStrength and Conditioning Coach – Track & Field, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Irving “Boo” Schexnayder is regarded internationally as one of the leading

authorities in training design. He, as co-founder of SAC, brings 40 years of experience in the coaching and consulting fields. He recently returned to the LSU Track and Field coaching staff for a second stint, serving as throws coach in 2018. He is currently serving as the

Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Track and Field Program. He is most noted for his previous 12 year term on the LSU Staff. Schexnayder, who coached collegiately at Louisiana-Lafayette and Blinn Junior College prior to arriving at LSU, placed quite an imprint on the collegiate track and field scene. Regarded as one of the world’s premier field event coaches, he was the mastermind behind 19 NCAA Champions and over 70 All Americans during his collegiate coaching career. He was a part of 12 NCAA Championship teams and a pair of JUCO National titles.
