Principle of operation

PET containers later used for hot fill-ing are manufactured in the so-calledheat-set procedure Infrared emit-ters first heat the preforms to therequired processing temperaturewhich lies just below the PET crystal-lisation point Subsequently the pre-form is stretched in a heated blowmould and is then blow-moulded toform a bottle The heat supply cre-ates additional crystallisation andinternal material tension is widelyreduced Here the retention periodin the blow mould plays an impor-tant role The higher the demands onthe container the more time mustbe taken for the crystallisation pro-cess in the blow mould Prior to open-ing the mould the bottles have to becooled so that they can be removedwith their shape undamaged Coolingcompressed air is channelled through

ports in the tubular stretching rodand onto critical areas of the bottlewall Due to these additional processsteps the Heat-Set process usuallyrequires a longer processing time anda greater air consumption than thestandard process

Principle of operation

Principle of operation

PET containers later used for hot fill-ing are manufactured in the so-calledheat-set procedure Infrared emit-ters first heat the preforms to therequired processing temperaturewhich lies just below the PET crystal-lisation point Subsequently the pre-form is stretched in a heated blowmould and is then blow-moulded toform a bottle The heat supply cre-ates additional crystallisation andinternal material tension is widelyreduced Here the retention periodin the blow mould plays an impor-tant role The higher the demands onthe container the more time mustbe taken for the crystallisation pro-cess in the blow mould Prior to open-ing the mould the bottles have to becooled so that they can be removedwith their shape undamaged Coolingcompressed air is channelled through

Principle of operation

PET containers later used for hot fill-ing are manufactured in the so-calledheat-set procedure Infrared emit-ters first heat the preforms to therequired processing temperaturewhich lies just below the PET crystal-lisation point Subsequently the pre-form is stretched in a heated blowmould and is then blow-moulded toform a bottle The heat supply cre-ates additional crystallisation andinternal material tension is widelyreduced Here the retention periodin the blow mould plays an impor-tant role The higher the demands onthe container the more time mustbe taken for the crystallisation pro-cess in the blow mould Prior to open-ing the mould the bottles have to becooled so that they can be removedwith their shape undamaged Coolingcompressed air is channelled through

Principle of operation

The PET-View can be directly inte-grated into the Contiform Using aCCD camera the inspector checks thecompletely blown PET bottles evenbefore they leave the stretch blowmoulder This way faulty containersare immediately detected and reject-ed
