CONTEXT

The emergent business scenario characterized by growing competition, increaseduncertainties, and accelerated pace of change necessitate a qualitative and fundamentaltransformation in the role, responsibility and accountability of managers to enable theorganization achieve global standards of performance, reduce decision response time anddevelop flexibility in the system so as to be responsive to changes from within and outside.The managers will need to provide leadership in their respective work spheres in such a waythat employees are able to proactively respond to organizational priorities and make positivecontribution toward realization of company’s objectives. It will be further necessary toachieve vertical and horizontal integration by building effective teams cutting across theinternal and external boundaries.

The programme thus aims at enabling the managers redefine their role in the changedscenario, provide effective leadership and manage through teams so as to generatecommitment amongst employees towards the vision and values of the company.

OBJECTIVES

The specific objectives of the programme will be:

to develop an appreciation of the need for shift in the style of managing the resourcesof the organization by adopting transformational leadership mode

to develop competencies in establishing effective interpersonal relationship throughincreased pace of self-development

to sharpen such behavioural skills as are desirable for building and leading highperformance teams

to formulate concrete action plan for developing leadership and team buildingcompetencies

PEDAGOGY

The pedagogy will be interactive and participative in nature. In addition to lectures, a widevariety of especially designed exercises, instruments, games and syndicate discussion will beused to provide participants with insight into issues of major concern encountered by them inthe organization and to generate such options as are necessary for effecting change in theirmindset as also in the style of their functioning.

He has provided consultancy and training inputs to practically all majorpublic and private sector organizations in the country. Dr. Mamta Mohapatra, Professor, IMI: With Doctorate, Masters in PersonnelManagement & Industrial Relations, Law Degree from Utkal University and FDP from IIM,Ahmedabad, Dr. Mohapatra has over twenty years of experience in teaching, research andtraining activities in the areas of Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations andOrganization Behavior. Currently, she is Professor and Chair of the OBHR area at IMI. Herprior assignments include Manager in Gregg’s of Enfield, London, and Fellow, Institute forIntegrated Learning in Management, New Delhi. She has been involved in training andconsultancy activities with a number of public as well as private sector organizationsincluding Bharti Telcom Ltd., Cyber Media India Ltd., Triune Projects Ltd., NTPC,Numaligarh Refinery, Pepsi Foods Ltd., DVVNL, Everest Industries Ltd., Delhi InternationalAirport Pvt.
