All of the articles featured in this magazine are written under a heading that groups the articles together. This makes it easier for the reader to navigate round the magazine as they know where to look for certain features. The main subheading on the page are of band names – this makes it easier for readers to find the articles they want to read as they can look for the band featured. As well as this there is a Band Index on the left of the page including every band featured in this article of NME, and the page number so the reader can quickly find the bands they would like to read about in this issue. Another feature that makes articles easy to find, is the arrow pointing to articles that were mentioned on the cover. This makes it easier for the readers, who bought the magazine because of the features on the cover, to find the articles they want to read. The large section on Reviews, suggests that the target audience are people who are interested in music and want to know what other people think of the albums or gigs before they listen/attend. Next to the heading ‘Q Review’ is the text ‘The worlds biggest and best music guide’ which tells the reader that this is a popular feature and the reviews are reliable.

The main image the feature point of this page and links with the feature article. The heading that links to the image is the page number followed by the name of the artists. This makes it easier for the reader to find the article. Underneath the heading is a short sentence telling the reader what they can expect from the article.The sub-image used in the Q Review section is of a band featured in that section, along with the page number they can be found on. This again makes it easier for the reader to navigate their way around the magazine as they can find the specific band they want to read about.

The main column on the left side of the page is split into sections, this groups certain articles together so the reader can easily find the articles that they feel will be more interesting to read. The column includes the page number of the articles, which stand out as they are a different colour to the text as well as a brief description as to what the article is about.The ‘Every Month’ section is small but is situated, directly under the main column of features. This means the reader will continue to read it but it is not a main feature of the magazine so it is not made to stand out. Also this suggestes that target audience are people who often buy the magazine and are aware of the features.

The title informs the reader what this page is as well as featuring the issue number and month of publication. This tells the reader the essential information of this magazine. As well as this, they have included their website and myspace underneath the essential information, to tell the reader that there are other places where they can find the information included in Q Magazine.

The colours used are grey, white, red and black. The grey is used to separate features of the magazine from other sections on the contents page and the red is used as it links to the maagzine logo as well as having connotations with rock music, which links back to the target audience who are fans of that genre of music.

The use of an ‘Editor’s Note’ makes it feel more personal and as if they are talking to the reader. The Target Audience is also females because the introduction to the Editors note is ‘Hey Girls!’ The frequent use of purple also appeals to the female target audience as it is classed as quite a girly colour.

The structure of the contents page makes it easier for the reader to navigate around the magazine. It has an ‘On The Cover’ section which means the reader can find the features on the cover quickly and more easily .The other sections all group similar articles together. The magazine is aimed at girls who like shopping, celebrities and competitions as these are just some of the headings used.

There is no main image on this page but there are a lot of sub images to draw the readers attention to certain parts of the page and main articles featured within the magazine.

The page numbers are written in a different colour to the rest of the text to make them stand out. Also there is a ‘Boys Alert’ badge next to all of the articles where boys are mentioned.
