Transcript of Contents page analysis
Contents Page Analysis
As the contents
page has been
separated into
two clear
sections;
Features and
Fashion, this
then allows the
readers to grasp
what certain
topics would be
underneath each
section.
The V in the
background is
initially there
to represent
that the
magazine belongs
to Vibe.
The use of Ciara
posing in a sexy
position reflects
that the magazine
belongs to the
genre of hip hop
and R&B.
The positioning
of the artists’
leg is used to
catch the
audience’s
attention an
allow them to
focus on where
her feet are
pointing to.
The use of the
text ‘contents’
being big and
bold, allows the
audience to know
what page they
are on.
As the feature
‘Fashion’ has its
own section, this
makes it easier
for the readers
to visit a topic
that they are
interested in
which is under
certain feature.
Also both
subheadings have
been used in a
different type of
font from the
rest of the
writing to stand
out and allow the
readers to know
what will feature
underneath them.
The artist is wearing similar
colours to match the background of
the page; this is used to bring
attention away from her and more
focus on the text and to also have
less of a colour crash.

The use of the
‘V’ on the top
left hand
corner
represents
that this
magazine
belongs to
Vibe magazine.
This shows the
numbers of
certain pages
that will
feature within
the magazine
and it also
displays the
headlines and
titles to
certain
articles and
top stories.
This allows
the readers to
know exactly
what page they
must visit to
find a certain
topic.
The use of a
well-known
artist may
signify that
she will
feature in
article within
the magazine.
The outfit of
the artist
does not
necessarily
suggest that
she belongs to
the genre of
either Hip-Hop
or R&B as her
clothing is
not typically
revealing. The
use of this
well-known and
familiar
artist will
allow the
audience to
realise what
genre magazine
it may be.
The use of large jewellery or in
other words ‘bling’, this also
relates to the genre of either R&B
or Hip-Hop music industry as the use
of large jewellery is as convention
to R&B females.
