A-la-carte restaurant NEUWIRT The gourmet restaurant with chef Stefan Hofer got awarded several times with the Michelin Star. Gault Millau awarded the restaurant with two toques (16 points) and the Austrian magazine „A-La-Carte“ prized the Neuwirt with four stars (86 points) to one of the best restaurants in Tyrol. Traditional designs with attention to detail affect the three wooden parlours of the Neuwirt, with larch parquets and tiled stoves. In summer the guests are able to dine on the terrace under arcades. The Hotel A historic estate: Already in the year 1844 a restaurant was located on the present foundation walls of the Schwarzer Adler Kitzbuehel. It is not possible to imagine the hotel scene in Kitzbuehel without the four star superior hotel. Since the opening in the year 1986 family Dr. Christian Harisch shaped the hotel to one of the leading wellness hotels in – and since December 2007 a new attraction is offered: The main building of the Schwarzer Adler Kitzbuehel received a new roof floor with six exclusive rooms and studios. The exterior of the outside is made out of glass and offer an unforgettable view over the mountain scenery of Kitzbuehel. A boardroom for up to 25 people is also provided. On top of that, the new floor offers a flat roof with outdoor swimming pool. The highlight: The generous, three floor large spa area of the hotel is with an elevator connected to the roof pool. The Design The traditional outside of the Schwarzer Adler forms a contrast to the puristic ambience of the entrance area. Clear lines and extraordinary material combinations like slate and exposed concrete surprise the guest at the inside of the hotel. Warm red and grey tones with metallic accents affect the lobby. An open fire place in the middle of the room separates the lounge area and the adjoining bar. Family Harisch together with architect Kay Sperling brought an accomplished mix with traditional elements and modern influences into practice and demonstrate herewith attention to extraordinary details: In the fire place room old wooden doors were turned into original wood panels. In front of them crackles an open fire place made off nature stone. In the „Hirschenstube“ (hunter’s parlour) of the hotel restaurant can heavy deer antlers on wooden walls be seen. Austrian State Prize for Architecture 2008

The hotel Schwarzer Adler Kitzbuehel got awarded with the state prize 2008 for the project „Roof pool & Studios“

KITZBUEHEL | VIENNA – In course of the State Prize for Architecture 2008 on the 22 October 2008 in the ballroom of the palace Eschenbach in Vienna, the Hotel Schwarzer Adler was awarded with the State Prize for Architecture 2008 for the project „Roof pool & Studios“. Between constantly changing leisure activity habits and growing quality requirements of the guests on the one hand and responsible handling of capabilities on the other hand got with the Hotel Schwarzer Adler a project awarded, which provides a holistic solution for different requirements. Also it builds an orientation for touristic and architectural development in the future. JURY STATEMENT: The Hotel Schwarzer Adler convinced the Jury in many points, especially impressed by the courage to contemporary design vocabulary, without quotations to alp clichés. The luxury hotel makes many layers for „Building for guests“ readable and shows very confident the different timestamps, without mature into false home idyll. It offers the guests the perfect comfort and the town Kitzbühel in best location an architectonic statement. An elevator shaft made of grey concrete, which is usually known in the industry construction, leads up to a seemingly pending platform. There is floor made out of glass with solid fashioned guest rooms situated. The roof terrace offers a year-round outdoor swimming pool and convinces with the fine materiality and finesse. With this extension a masterpiece succeeded, that combines high user value with architectonic pertinacity and hidden humour.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The former roof floor with small single rooms got completely renovated after the plan’s of the architecture office „tatanka ideenvertrieb gmbh“ (Arch. Wolfgang Pöschl & Thomas Thum) in spring 2007. The floor got reconstructed with 6 new Studios with Panorama-glass front and a meeting room. The innovative Interior Design of the Studios got created by the Tyrolean architect Monika Gogl. A 16 meter long outdoor swimming pool got attached on the flat roof of the new floor. Through the corresponding technical equipment the roof pool can be used year-round. Hotel Schwarzer Adler Kitzbuehel got nominated for the project „Roof pool & Studios“ for the „Mies van der Rohe Award 2009“

KITZBUEHEL | BARCELONA – The Mies van der Rohe Award for European Architecture qualifies one of Europe’s prestigious and most desired architecture awards. 1987 the award became brought into being by the European commission, the European parliament and the foundation Mies van der Rohe – Barcelona. The prize got named after the famous architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. „Closer to Fall“ – Video art of the New Yorker Tim White-Sobieski in the Schwarzer Adler Kitzbuehel

KITZBUEHEL – Since his „Terminal“ series (2001-2004) Tim White-Sobieski counts to one of the world’s most indicated video artists. The New Yorker realised the world’s biggest connected artistical video installation with the length of 20 meters („alpha“, Louis Vuitton, Champs-Elysées Paris). Since December 2008 the Spa of the Hotel Schwarzer Adler shows the famous Art-video of Tim White-Sobieski: „CLOSER TO FALL“. The digital and analogue basic material for the video „CLOSER TO FALL“ changed Tim White-Sobieski with a computer program into psychedelic colour-day dreams. He connects different video productions through rhythmic, abstracting or serial ranking moves and samples. His slowed pictures and the tone synthesis with the music by Brian Eno put anyone straight away into „Declaration“. Actually the „Chill-out“-Effect is the emotional access into his works, but also the result to cast a spell over. In „CLOSER TO FALL“, produced in 2005, shows Tim White-Sobieski in around four and a half minutes four parts of life, he named them „Seasons of Life“: The young, innocent face of a girl stands for the childhood, the fearless posture expresses the transition to adulthood, the key note of the autumn leafs symbolises the increasing beauty and graciousness of the ages, the snow flakes and the, like the memories elapsing milk stands for the aging process.

In the fascinating end of the video the girl turns her face slowly into the camera, a single autumn leaf wafts over the picture, the camera stops for exactly one moment, in which two branches cross over her face like a crown of thorns. „CLOSER TO FALL“ gets projected to chosen times in the Spa of the Schwarzer Adler Kitzbuehel on the grey exposed concrete wall.
