One of the greatest treasures of Jūrmala City is a 25 km long beach which for many of citizens and guests is a place where to have a rest, get inspiration or go into sports during any season. A walk along the seaside always has been an excellent idea for spending of free time, also in winter. For lighter walks we offer to use illuminated foot-path from Turaidas Street in Dzintari to Ērgļu Street in Majori. During appropriate weather conditions, the beach of Jūrmala transforms into a long and charming skiing track.

In the very center of Jūrmala City, in Majori, a skating ring is located, and it is not important if snow is snowing or rain is raining, because the ice hall is partly covered by a roof which protects it from unfavorable weather conditions allowing to have an active rest and go into sports in open air. Skating season is planned until April 30 (date can be changed due to weather conditions). Inventory rental is available. Rent of ska-tes for 1 pair 1.50 EUR per hour. In winter Ķemeri bog is enchanting in its special mood. The national park is set up in a place where the sea weaves have washed thousands of years ago, and, by leaving the area, has left lagoons behind which have overgrown creating unique bogs and lakes with Sulphur mineral springs, small rivers and annually flooded forest stands.

GREAT ĶEMERI MOORLAND TRAILGreat Ķemeri Moorland trail is the most popular sightseeing object in the Ķemeri National Park. It allows anyone to get to know the high bog of mosses which is still unaffected by human activities. It is a place to enjoy a peace and unique view of nature. The large circle of the trail is 3.4 km long, while the small one – 1.4 km.

BLACK ALDERS SWAMP BOARDWALKThis boardwalk of the Ķemeri National Nature Park begins at the information center “Meža māja” (“Forest’s house”) of the park, and it is 600 m long. The boardwalk is appropriate for families with children because it is located not far from the center of Ķemeri and at the beginning of the boardwalk a playground for children is placed. Nearby you can visit also the old park of Ķemeri sanatorium with Sulphur spring “Ķirzaciņa” (“The Little Lizard”) and see interesting remaining of architecture from the previous century with bridges, churches and other objects.

SLOKA LAKE WALKING TRAIL AND BIRD OBSERVATION TOWERA walking trial goes through different forests along the bank of the waterfowl-rich lake. It starts and ends at Sloka Lake in the point easy reachable by car, where a parking area, a place for picnics and a floating 7 m high observation tower are placed. Walking along the trail is an excellent way to check anyone’s physical shape as various elements of sportive activities can be tried – swings, walking on a narrow wood, climbing and others.

It is possible to travel to Ķemeri by public transport – buses No. 6, 10 and 10a, while, if you want to go to the great Ķemeri Moorland trail, it will be more comfort-able to take a train “Rīga–Tukums”. Further, from the station Ķemeri, please, follow the direction signs on site.
