C.S.LEWIS ON THE INCARNATION:
The Second Person in God, the Son, became human
Himself: was born into the world as an actual man—a
real man of a parcular height, with hair of a
parcular colour, speaking a parcular language,
weighing so many stone. The Eternal Being, who
knows everything and who created the whole
universe, became not only a man but (before that) a
baby, and before that a foetus inside a Woman’s body.
If you want to get the hang of it, think how you would
like to become a slug or a crab. (from Mere Chrisanity)
THE MESSAGE; JOHN 1:14
The Word became flesh and blood, and moved
into the neighbourhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
true from start to finish.

CWS Christmas Appeal As we prepare for Christmas we need to find ways to make peace visible in our world broken by poverty, war and greed. Our church supports the Christian World Service Christmas Appeal, first launched in 1945 by the then National Council of Churches to help war torn Greece. Making sure refugees have food, shelter and education, small farmers have seeds and water to grow food and children have medical care when they need it are ways to peace. Your gifts combined with other gifts have helped so many families in the seventy years we have been working together. The work is not done. This year more people have become refugees and many more face violence on a daily basis. To bring peace to our broken world, we must find new paths to peace. Let peace be our prayer and our action as we celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas. Your gift at Christmas will help rebuild lives and give hope to people in need of food, water, support and medicine. You can find out more about the partner groups and the work they do in the envelope available in the SPANZ magazine or at http://christmasappeal.org.nz/ You can make a donation by putting a labelled envelope in the church offering, by internet banking or online. Please give generously to the 2015 Christmas Appeal. Thanks for helping us play our part in helping people rebuild their lives.
TEAR FUND CHRISTMAS APPEAL
When I lost my first child, I cried all the time. When I lost my second child, I stopped going to church. When I lost my third child I started praying again. I still ask God was it my fault that he did this to me? Anjela, 29, Indonesia
Your donation will help vulnerable mothers and children in Indonesia and India, as well as support similar projects in Laos, Cambodia and the Pacific. Emphasis is on health education and disease prevention.

PREschool Music Group
Rachel PeFgrew would love to hear from anyone who may have an interest,
no ma3er how slight, in being part of a preschool music group in 2016. She
would love to start a conversa-on about a poten-al new group and discuss
ideas. Ways of involvement may be: leading sessions, welcoming parents
and children, technology support, kitchen support, praying for the group, being an inten-onal
relator. This is not a commitment but would be great to know if others are keen to jump on board!
Christmas eve Service 7pm, December 24 Family service held at Leith Valley Church. Helen needs helpers (singers/readers etc) for the service
and for welcoming/serving food. She would also love to collect up na:vity sets from round the
