What can WalthamForest SENDIASS helpwith?We can support and advise on arange of subjects and provide:
- IAS through the EHC assessmentand planning process.- A phone helpline.- Confidential and impartial IAS toyoung people (16+) on their own, ifrequested.- Individual casework and support inpreparing for and attendingmeetings.- Help in filling in forms and writingletters/reports.- Support on exclusions.- Support in resolvingdisagreements, including mediationand tribunals.- Signposting to local or nationalsources of advice, information andsupport.- Links to local parent supportgroups and forums.

Special Educational Needs andDisability Information, Advice andSupport Service (SENDIASS) is a free,confidential and impartial service forParents, carers, children and youngpeople (up to 25 years old).
What do IAS servicesdo?
IAS (Information, Adviceand Support) Serviceshave a duty to provideinformation, advice andsupport to disabledchildren and youngpeople, and those withSEN, and their parents.They are statutoryservices which meansthere has to be one inevery local authority.
Here's how it works,step by step...1. Get in touchIf you contact us, a member of theteam will talk to you about yourproblem. If everyone is busy they willcall you back or reply to your email assoon as possible.
2. Get the infoAdvisers will listen to your questionsand try to offer useful advice andinformation. The staff at the serviceknow a lot about:
- Your rights to support- What the law is- What to do if you have problemsgetting the support you need
Depending on what you need, theadviser might offer:- More help by email- More help over the phone- Meet with you face to face
You can tell the adviser what wouldbe best for you.
