NAPLAN results released - Details of 2015 NAPLAN testing for Grade 3 and 5s have just been released to schools for distribution.
Individual NAPLAN reports will be issued tomorrow in sealed envelopes. Our teaching staff will begin next week to analyse individual, class, year level and whole of school results. I anticipate that this will lead to literacy and numeracy program modifications and additional personalised support for students.
Mano ART Show - WEDNESDAY AUGUST 28th 5-7 p.m. Exhibits of Art work will be on display across all year levels and this promises to be a great community event. Please come along and join us. The General Office is the starting point for all visitors.
Literacy / Numeracy Week - Commencing Monday 31st – schools across Victoria will be celebrating this week with a range of activities for students. Building the lifelong literacy and numeracy skills that all of our students need, is one of our highest priorities. One special activity in this week will be the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the story ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Some family problem solving activities will be shared to help link learning at school and at home, during this
week in particular.
Chocolate drive - All chocolate drive payments are due back to the General Office by MONDAY AUGUST 31st. Many, many thanks to all the families who have supported this School Council driven event. If you would like a second box of chocolates please ensure the money from your first box is returned to the office.
School Maintenance DET grant - We have been pleased to hear that $130,000 of funding will be received by Mano to address numerous maintenance issues. Much of this is painting work in the Multi, Middles and Seniors buildings. Funding to upgrade some of the tired components of the Admin/Juniors building we hope will be announced in future Education Department Capital Works funding rounds. Until then, we will action enhancing the areas funded as noted above with the appreciated $130,000 received.
Canteen - A friendly reminder that the canteen is still closed, so we will not be accepting any lunch orders. We are still investigating different service providers and we hope that the canteen will be back up and running in the coming weeks.
