Tell us what you think!
This is a pilot year for the Five Colleges/Holyoke bus routes. In
order to continue service, we want to know that these routes are meeting the
needs of Five College students and members of the larger community.
This information is provided solely for the convenience of Five College students and employees. Five Colleges and their member institutions are not responsible for PVTA, including any changes in services or scheduling. Schedules are approximate, as service may be delayed by conditions outside of PVTA control.
The PVTA & the Five Colleges Collaboration
These pilot Five Colleges-Holyoke bus routes were developed in collaboration between the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA), the Five College Committee for Community Based Learning, and Five Colleges, Inc.
The Red 29, Blue 48, Blue 43 and local Holyoke PVTA routes are public bus routes serving both members of the Five
Colleges community and the great Pioneer Valley Community. Navigating public transit systems is an important life-skill. Public transportation is an important part of the infrastructure of our community, and offers a vital resource: an accessible transportation system that is both greener and more affordable than private vehicles.
Traveling by public bus routes also provides an opportunity to gain additional knowledge and understanding of the community in which we work, and the experiences of the people who live there. Consider using your bus ride to see more of the city or reflect on your experiences in it while doing Community-Based Learning through your school.
The Five College Committee for Community Based Learning
The Five College Committee for Community Based Learning is a committed group of faculty and staff from Hampshire College, Smith College, Mount Holyoke College, Amherst College, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, that meets regularly to share information and explore ways to build and expand community engagement in the Pioneer Valley and beyond.
Community-Based Learning (CBL) brings together students, faculty, and community organizations to work on projects that provide intellectually rich experiences for students and tangible benefits to the greater community.
