Special featuresThe GRAFIS® CAD system offers the user an innovative software for clothing and technical textiles construction. The technology of interactive constructions remains a distinctive feature unique to GRAFIS®.

Not just for the standard section of the clothing industry, but also for special sectors such as undergarments and accessories, GRAFIS® continues to develop new interac-tive constructions, e.g. the interactive corsage, the glove, the tie and the bow tie. The interactive constructions per-mit highly flexible and user-friendly pattern development and pattern processing.

The particular strenghts of GRAFIS® are especially per-tinent to the areas of bespoke patterns and made-to-measure manufacture. Control of the styles via body measurements and parameters also enables the access of automated processes from outside.

This is where the MTM solution »pod – Pattern on De-

mand« by Gertsch Consulting comes into play. This pro-duct connects the worlds of web shop and pattern creati-on in one continuous workflow. It facilitates efficient and secure processing of made-to-measure orders. The order generated in the web shop controls the GRAFIS® CAD soft-ware to produce a style pattern for the selected options and entered measurements. Using GRAFIS® ensures the highest possible flexibility in processing the order.

GradingAll steps of the style development are logged in a construction record and are then recalculated with the body measurements of the related measurement charts. Thus, grading in GRAFIS® is not traditional incremental grading but a recalculation of the complete construction instructions. Subsequent modification to the style deve-lopment is possible via simple alteration of the parame-ters.

All user-specific construction parameters and all parame-ters of the interactive construction can be altered. Even during grading individual points for break sizes can be adjusted.

As GRAFIS® works with a hereditary structure, connec-tions between parts are created automatically. Alteration of a development part leads to adjustment of all depen-dent pattern pieces after recalculation of all parts. This dependency achieves effective and fast creation of style variations.

Grade Rule Grading and Data Import/ExportAs an alternative to grading via the saved construction record it is possible to grade with grade rules. This gra-ding technique is applied to digitized or imported patterns in particular. For data exchange with other CAD systems, various import and export interfaces are contained within GRAFIS®.

Marker making / LayplanningThe layplanning software offers a large number of

options relating to material, pieces and sizes. Apart from the common functions for butting pieces together inclu-ding rotation, mirror and adjustment of buffers and allo-wances, GRAFIS® offers functions for special applications. These include matching points for laying checks and stripes, use of marker templates, automatic generation of fusing blocks, consideration of material flaws and shrinkage. Special layplanning options for folded lays or tubular material are equally supported.

Pieces can be selected from different styles to assemble a layplan. A module for automatic layplan optimisation

GRAFIS is a modern CAD software for pattern construction.

GRAFIS enables creation and modification of pattern pieces, grading and output to printers and plotters as well as export of the finished pattern in several data formats. 

Also included in GRAFIS is a mar-ker making software, allowing for placement of completed styles.

First Pattern CuttingDuring creation of the first pattern, GRAFIS® works with the construction principle. The starting point for working with GRAFIS® are body measurement charts which can be stored in different measurement systems.

These measurement charts can represent standard sizes and/or individual sizes. The interactive basic blocks included in the GRAFIS® software relate back to these measurement charts.

The basic blocks of GRAFIS® contain drafting instructions which are recalculated with the selected measurement charts. These interactive basic blocks can easily be alte-red through click and drag or numerical entry offering a wealth of options for fit optimisation and style modifica-tion.
